Preparing to relocate and looking for the best moving company solutions? Explore reviews, prices, and tips when hiring U-Pack movers.
Moving is one of the most frustrating experiences you’ll ever undertake. From workers who break everything to scammers that hold your belongings hostage unless you pay more money, there are many ways moving can leave you wanting to tear your hair out.
Finding a moving company can be difficult. U-Pack is a different kind of company and one that you should definitely explore.
Here is our review so you can determine if U-Pack Movers will work for you.
U-Pack Company Overview
U-Pack moving is not your typical company. They offer a simple, affordable way to move that incorporates specialized cubes or trailers that you load yourself.
U-Pack will deliver an empty cube to your home. You load it. They will then come to pick up the cube and deliver it to your new home.
Types of moves:
Cross-Country moving
Long-distance moving
Door-to-Door moving
Self-moving
Military moving
College moving
Small moves
U-Pack offers true door-to-door service with a lot of flexibility. If you’re on a tight budget or you simply want to handle most aspects yourself (other than transportation) U-Pack is a good alternative.
It is often more cost-effective and more flexible than a one-way truck rental, portable storage or a full-service moving company.
NOTE: The one drawback is that they don’t offer services for local moves.
The thing that makes this moving company such a cost-effective solution is their use of a moving container called a U-Pack ReloCube®. The Cubes come in different sizes so they are built to handle any type of move.
Convenience is a big plus with U-Pack. U-Pack will deliver the container right to your door and then pick it up and deliver it to your final destination. It’s called “door-to-door delivery” for a reason.
The Cubes are designed to fit in a driveway, parking space or on the street, so they are ideal for small and apartment moves. They also sit on the ground so you don’t have to climb in and out of a truck all day to unload them.
How ReloCubes Work
The U-Pack ReloCube® is a metal, weatherproof container. Each Cube™ holds everything from furniture and boxes to odd-shaped items. However, you only pay for the space that you use.
You can order as many Cubes as you want, but you will only pay for the ones you use. So, if you order four cubes, but end up only needing three, you pay for three.
NOTE: You are in charge of loading and unloading the cube. U-Pack moving only delivers the cube from place to place. They’re basically chauffeurs transporting your stuff to the new location.
U-Pack Trailers
For long-distance moves – or ones where a cube won’t work – U-Pack offers moving trailers. U-Pack trailers provide more flexibility and they are still more cost-effective than renting a moving truck.
How the trailer process works:
The trailer will be delivered empty to your house
You have 3 business days to load the trailer
U-Pack will pick up the trailer and move it to your new home
You have 3 business days to unload the trailer
U-Pack moving trailers will hold more than even the biggest rental trucks. Space is equal to a 26-foot and a 10-foot rental truck combined. However, you only pay for the space you need. You don’t have to fill it up.

U-Pack Pricing
U-Pack rates are calculated based on how faryou’re moving, how muchyou’re moving, and whenyou’re moving.
Factors that affect pricing include:
Equipment needs
Equipment availability
Distance to travel
Fuel expenses
Market demand
Rates are based on the size of the space used, not the weight of your shipment, which is different from most moving companies. U-Pack measures space by linear footage in a trailer or by the total number of containers.
Some things to remember:
Moves during peak months usually come with a higher price
Origin and destination factor into the cost for 4 reasons:
Amount and price of fuel needed
Equipment needed from U-Pack
Distance from the service center to your home
Areas with more shipments coming in are more affordable
U-Pack will provide materials like boxes and other packing materials for an extra charge.
Determining Your Price
It’s easy to figure out the price for your move. Just fill out an online form with the details of your move, including origin, destination, move date, and home size. U-Pack will provide an instant quote.
You can use the online cost calculator or call 877-453-7274.
You will find that prices are competitive with truck rentals, but the service is more convenient because you don’t have to drive the truck.
To calculate the total cost of your move, remember to include things like travel, packing, and materials (boxes).
The last piece of the puzzle is what’s included in the moving cost.
With U-Pack, there are a few factors:
How much space you use
The delivery option (door-to-door or load/unload at a local service center)
Transportation
Fuel and liability coverage
The quote also includes rates for storage and loading help if you opt to add those services.
Protecting Your Belongings
Since you’ll be doing the packing, you might worry about securing your belongings in the containers. U-Pack Cubes incorporate interior tie-down points for safe transport. You can also place a lock on the container throughout the move to ensure no one breaks into it.
Storing Your Belongings
If you need to store your belongings because you can’t move into your new place or you’ll be delayed in arriving, you can store your belongings in the U-Pack Cube. They are small enough to fit in a regular parking space or driveway until you can unload.
