Packing Tips

Packing can be manage DIY, or outsourced to the movers. Use these tips to help you have more success with your packing:

  • Get the right kinds of boxes. The moving box is sturdy and able to securely hold the weight of the items you’re going to place inside of it. Most moving companies will have high quality moving boxes available for purchase.
  • Secure and wrap breakable items with bubble wrap and/or packing paper.
  • Pack items tightly together and they are less likely to move and break.

  1. Price is most important. Most moving companies are all the same. They just move your stuff. So, unless there’s a background check, it doesn’t matter to me.

  2. The last company we worked with on a cross country move was Pure Moving Company out of Los Angeles. We hired them because they had over 400 Google reviews. To us, that’s extremly important. You have to have a real Google account to write a review.

  3. We hired Coastal Movers in Chesapeake, VA. They are very professional, and we paid less than $700 for a local move. We moved from a 4 bedroom house, and had tons of furniture. For us, reputation and price matter. We won on both fronts. We recommend them for sure.

  4. Being approachable. It’s simple, but it’s one of the most important factors when interacting with someone. It’s not about how they look, or dress, but how they hold themselves and speak.

  5. I look for a company with a good price and a good reputation. I don’t want my items to be damaged during a move so a mover with a good reputation is important.

  6. What I would look for in a moving company is respectful and efficient workers with a fair price as well. I would look for them to take care with the items they are moving and to be punctual and just overall nice!

  7. Moving companies should be reliable and diligent. It’s important that from the beginning before a quotation is given the moving company should genuinely show they are diligent and honest. It will make it easier for the client to trust them as their reliability.

  8. Moving companies should be trustworthy and they should have good time management. People tend to have a lot of stuff in their home and they are putting a lot of trust into the movers when they hire them. The people trust the movers not to steal any of their personal belongings and not damage any of it either. The movers should also be diligent in their time working, making sure they get all of the belongings out in a reasonable time slot. Additionally:

    • Get Referrals for friends.
    • Watch Out for Red Flags. Bad BBB reviews, Yelp, etc.
    • Make Sure the Mover Is Licensed and Insured.
    • Check With the Better Business Bureau.
    • Ask About Professional Accreditation.
    • Get a thorough walk-through before and after the move
    • Don’t pay a large deposit.
    • Beware of extra fees
    • Avoid a blank moving contract

  9. Honestly, my family never used a moving company to help us move from one house to another. We always did it ourselves in our mini van, and it was a real challenge for everyone, especially for my siblings and I. Moving can be tiring and a lot of work, yet we never used a moving company due to the expensive prices, stories of robbery, and unapproachable employees. If we were to have a moving company help us move from one place to another, good ratings and comments would help reassure our hesitation, and reasonable prices would also help ease our minds in using a moving company. Finding a moving company with these traits would be a huge relief for all the children in my family.

  10. Moving companies need to be efficient, punctual and most importantly friendly! Most people who are moving are stressed, tired and worried about the whole process and they need to know that all of their closest belongings are going to be safe and protected. Therefore, the moving company should greet all customers with open arms, and prove their trustworthiness and effective capabilities.

  11. It is important for moving companies to be respectful and efficient. I can say from experience that moving can be one of the most emotional times of a person’s life, so it is very vital that the moving company be mindful of their place. A family has to say goodbye to everything that they know and brave a new, uncertain environment. Any help from a considerate company can play a crucial role in reducing the unneeded stress of the time. Another way they can calm nerves is through arriving punctually and working as quick and effective as possible. People are trying to move their whole lives and to do so, they place companies in charge of protecting their memories. If a moving company just remains focused on how much they can affect a family, they can make all the difference.
My family has never moved, but we helped my neighbors move a couple of years ago. Our families were very close, so it was very hard for us to say goodbye. But they took their time and chose a very good company that arrived on time and took very good care of their personal belongings. Instead of worrying about a mover destroying their precious family heirlooms, they got to spend time to focus on what really mattered. I think that everyone deserves the same experience they were shown.

  12. What I look for in a moving company is quality and I work. I expect the moving company I hire to care about my belongings as if it was theirs. I expect them to be honest about their prices and be honest about their work. Moving can be a stressful and complicated process and a good moving company can ease people’s fears and stresses. Unfortunately, it can be an equally stressful process to pick out a good moving company. I think the best way to choose the company is to ask friends and family about recommendations, look at reviews, and shop around. I believe that looking at reviews can bring powerful insight into making the best decision. When my parents bought their first home, they asked their friends for their recommendations for a moving company. They were recommended a very small locally owned company that had fewer than 5 employees in total. I remember my parents questioning whether they had the resources to make our move from an apartment to home successful. But all their concerns were taken away with the service this small company provided. They told my parents that everything would be moved by a certain time and a certain date and they honored that. They promised my parents that they would take of our furniture and treat my family’s things with care and respect, and they honored that. They promised a set price, and when the bill came it was the price that was quoted to my parents. I remember how happy my parents were with the moving company and this made them recommend the company repeatedly to their moving friends and family.

Now when I look for a moving company, I look for a company that treated my family as well as that small local company did.

  13. I’ve never required a moving company, but I know sometime in the future I will. The most important quality they could have that I’d look for is respect. That they treat you and your belongings as if it were their own, or their family. That they take their job seriously and communicate with you effectively. Last but not least, the ideal moving company has a great reputation that they uphold. Behind every great company are the owners and employees that put people first.

  14. When I review and research moving companies. I look for professionalism, pricing, accountability, punctable, detailed employees and excellent customer service.!

  15. Moving an entire living situation even a little distance is a very important and time consuming task. When it comes to moving, to me, care and trust are the 2 most important things. I need to trust the company and it’s services, I need to trust that they take care in handling my possessions. It is stressful enough to be living in a new space, why should costumers need to worry about all their belongings as well. This is why I think some kind of trust network and accountability system is rather important, if not most important next to the quality of the services themselves.

  16. My family used a moving company and we had a pretty good experience. The men who came to move us worked efficiently and quickly which was appreciated considering we were paying by the hour. Sometimes it feels a little awkward because you feel like you should be helping, considering it is you stuff after all. But the men were very friendly. I will say it was a pretty pricey way to go.

  17. Yes, my opinion of movers throughout the years have been tainted and sometimes restored with confidence when furniture arrives in its original condition. I have experienced the low budget online shopping that resulted in un-successful experiences (broken glass) and the initial flag of poor training due to “no qualified management” personnel on-site. The worst has been pre-paid deposits and no show or “late arrivals” with extra “lunch breaks” required just as the moving truck parked blocking the driveway of neighbors to load boxes. .

As my older relatives always claimed, when it relates to products or services – “…you get what you pay for, and cheap pay leads to bad service!!”

My advice is to review other customer feedback and look for insurance options before choosing to make a financial commitment.

Happy moving & cheers to your new home.

  18. When trying to find reliable movers, the most important things to balance are price and reliability. Moving is stressful, both financially and emotionally. A good moving company can mitigate those stressors by being both cost-conscious and dependable. Having an affordable cost relieves financial stress in an obvious way. But a dependable, friendly, and reassuring team is what really makes a low-stress moving experience. Homeowners want to rest assured that their items are in reliable hands. This can be acomplished by having movers that show the clients that they have their back and CARE about their dependability.

  19. Next time I move, I’m definitely Hiring a movers company.

  20. My family moved from house when I was growing up and we had always used a different moving company. We always looked for the cheapest company because we couldn’t afford much else. In always choosing price over quality, our furniture would end up damaged. There was one time, they were boxing up our items and threw our bathroom trash can into a moving box, garbage and all! It was quite disgusting to open a box at our new home expecting to find our bathroom supplies, but instead greeted with the remnants of our trash can. That being said, if I were to personally choose a moving company, I would look for a service that prides themselves in their attention to detail and care for their clients’ belongings.

  21. Intentionally for me I would say first is the price and room or size of truck put stuff into it. I have never moved with a moving company just me, myself, and where I put a lot of my stuff into my car and the moved just recently from Arkansas to California. Intentionally i would look for those two I would say.

  22. Good Evening,

First I would like to thank “Find Movers Now” for the opportunity. If I were looking for movers it would depend on first impression. Who ever I decide to move my furniture that I earned by working hard, I would have to pick people that I trust. When it comes to running a business first impression is everything. Think about it.. if you see a rotten strawberry, would you eat it? Of course you won’t because of the way it looks but who knows.. this strawberry could have been so yummy! What I’m saying by that is, people are always judged by how they look, and how they speak. So, my recommendation is to always have a bubbly customer service representative that is sweet over the phone and in person when it comes to moving furniture. I’ve had a so-so experience with a moving company. They delivered furniture to my home and chipped the corner which was wood. It sucked because my mother was so happy to get her couch. Instead of receiving it perfectly she received it with scratches with chipped wood. A company should have trust worthy employees who will care for customers employees in person and over the phone.

    Thank you.

  23. Friendly, Responsible, Timely. Considerate. A friendly trustworthy company builds good reviews, with good reviews comes good business. People need a reason to chose a company over doing it themselves. If it will really make their lives easier and better, tell them why and show it through experience. Moving to a new life can be hard, so make it easy.

  24. I’ve helped people move before, and I think a moving company is a must have. It’s important to find a company that is affordable and won’t break your things.

  25. Ian Teodoro

Thirteen years ago, my family made the trek across the polar opposite end of mainland America. We drove from North Carolina using a Penske truck all the way to Washington state, where I currently reside. Like many, my dad was, and still is, in the military. And again, like many, he was told to move and we followed. I was five years old at the time, yet there are certain sets of imagery that stay ingrained in my head.
I remember staying separated from my mom and my older brother; they traveled in the van, tailing my dad and I as we chugged along in the moving truck. This happened to be the result of a very unfortunately timed case of diarrhea that my brother was undergoing; my parents chose to shield me from the trauma of traveling with a food-poisoned ticking time bomb.

I remember eating more Vienna Sausage in this week of my life than I have in the rest of my 18 years combined. Random motels and truck stops where the canned set of meat was no different than a 5 Star Michelin meal. I remember, and maybe most importantly, that I get very car sick very easily. The well-aged vomit lodged in between the cracks of my Spiderman Nintendo DS Lite pay homage to this lesson.

My purpose in mentioning this anecdote is not to gross somebody out with an odd set of Too-Much-Information, but rather for people to see moving, as cliche as it may sound, as an experience. For families, moving is filled with stress. I was fortunate enough to be an uncaring five year old, but for my parents, I can’t even imagine the emotional burden they were going through. What movers should realize is that moving is a very personal time in ones’ life, whether for the parents or the kids. For some, that move could be the first time that person has even left their hometown.
People look for movers that show care and compassion in the situation, a sense of understanding that might be valued more than they realize. People look for movers that see the story behind every packaged box; the amount of nostalgia stored in packing peanuts and cardboard. What people don’t want in a move is another obstacle in an already hectic situation. People don’t have time to be worrying about what the mover is doing. What they need is somebody who will be there for them in the process, somebody to be reliable and dependable. But most importantly, a person needs a mover that will just be human. Somebody to see the scale of importance these moments are in life.

  26. From watching my sisters experience with moving companies I don’t think that I would go with a company that works by the hour. The people that she hired took half a day to move just a couple of pieces of furniture. So slow that she literally started picking stuff up and helping them move. And on top of that they scratched numerous items. When everything is already in boxes I just don’t feel like the job should be done by the hour. Draining the clock to get paid more for the job is not ethical in my eyes! This is probably one of the reasons the company no longer exist.

  27. The most important thing for me in a moving company is one that truly understands how valuable my things are for me, a company that understands that’s not about the price of the stuff you have in your house but the emotional value they have. Every thing has a memory attached to them, like that mug your grandma gave you for your birthday or the photos of your loved ones. Also, responsibility and punctuality are primordial for a moving service. Moving times are stressful and the least thing you need is rude in-punctual people throwing your stuff into a truck. Kindness, consideration and work ethic can shape the world and your experiences with a moving company.

  28. I look for attentive, caring movers who want your belongings to be in one piece when you arrive at your new destination

  29. In my entire life, I have only moved three times. Two of the three were caused by divorce. The moving process was a constant reminder that my family would never be whole again.
When the movers came, I wanted to cry. It was sad watching them take apart my bedroom — piece by piece. Although this was undoubtedly a sad moment, the movers were so kind and smiled at me as they carried furniture up and down the stairs. I never explicitly told the movers that my parents were going through a divorce and that that was why we had to leave, but somehow they knew. A simple smile went a long way that day. It was a reminder that things weren’t so bad.
The movers’ first priority was completing their job, but they all went out of their way to make me feel better in a time of hardship. They didn’t have to smile at me or be polite or even acknowledge me for that matter. After all, I wasn’t the one paying them; my mom would be. The main thing that I look for in a moving company is one that can look beyond their job description and will go out of their way, even if no one asks for it.

  30. A moving company needs to have an affordable price, good customer service skills, and responsible. Having a good fair price for your services is a key thing that attracts customers. However without customer service skills a company will not stay alive. Customers need to feel heard and cared for because they should be. As a company they need to be responsible because they do have to deal with the personal belongings of their customers.

  31. I’m from Puerto Rico but i been leaving here for 3 years . Moving company are helpful but in my personal case prefer my family and friends to do help me move out . Last time I moved was like 7 months and we had a good experience with the guy that the company send . He helps us to put everything in the truck and also to bring take it down in the new house. In addition he decide to help us to accommodate the couch , the dinner tablet , the bedroom and etc. Everything depend in the company you contrasts. In my personal experience, on of my friends work at that company and he was the want who help us to move .

  32. The top qualities for movers I look for is reliability, good communication and to a lesser degree is price. I had a terrible experience moving my family from Texas to California. The movers were supposed to check in/keep in contact with us while our items were being transported. Not only did we receive zero communication from the movers, contact the customer service portal was an absolute nightmare.

Our belongings ended up 4 days late and left my wife and I with much grief. It would have been ok if at least the customer service reps tried to help but they were useless.

  33. I have moved about eight times in my life. My memories of most of these moves consisted of friends moving large pieces of furniture up and down stairs. However, the last time I moved cities with my family, there were no friends or family to help. It was just my dad, my mom, and myself. But this time, we had hired a moving company to lug all our boxes and couches up and down a narrow flight of eighteen stairs to our apartment. I don’t think the strangers knew how many times we had moved. I don’t think they knew our last name. But most importantly, I don’t think they knew that this was the first time we had moved as just the three of us. We had no one. But despite that, they worked in the rain, were friendly, and lifted a load off our backs, so to speak. To me, these two men represented how moving companies should help with a transition that can be daunting. Not only are there so many things to do when moving, there are so many unknowns that can leave the people re-locating overwhelmed. I think it comes down to the employee to understand that their job can help shape a person’s beginning experience in a new place, good or bad. When I hire a moving company next, I hope they understand that.

  34. The number one thing I look for in a moving company is safety. I am putting trust into strangers to move my items– valuable or not– from point A to point B. Moving induces a lot of anxiety on people for a myriad of reasons so quality and security are highly regarded in a moving company. Compassionate workers who come from a reliable and trustworthy company are vital in supporting a person when moving.

  35. Moving companies are all over the world they all have the same benefits. In order for any company or business to be good, they got to have something different from the other companies . In more details, they have to offer something that another company can not offer, for example: add a moving program that will provide everything else with the new location such as, network, electricity, and cleaning. It’s difficult to do that with one company by itself unless companies link together with contracts to provide all those services.

  36. When my family and I look for a mover, we look at the reputation of the company through social media and google reviews. We want to make sure that they handle our furniture and valuables with care and not damage our things. We also want to make sure that they’re friendly and trusting. We also look at the price as well.

  37. When you hire a moving company, you are putting your property into the hands of strangers. This can be an extra stressor in an already stressful situation, so it’s beneficial to avoid it. I haven’t ever had to hire a moving company, but when I do in the future I will be looking for reliability and trustworthiness. I want to make sure that I’ll have all of my items, safe and sound, in the stressful environment of a new home. Good reviews do wonders, people.

  38. My parents recently relocated from Arkansas to Utah, and had a moving company provided by the company relocating them. One of the most impressive things was how thorough the company was, which was important to us. They made sure that everything was delivered in a timely manner, was well packaged, and every item was accounted for. This was something important to us. We were impressed with them, and would work with them again.

  39. I look for a company that is respectful, safe and worth the cost for the move. Understanding that moving is stressful already and are ready to listen and work seamlessly with the moving process. It is also important for the company to uphold a high standard of cleanliness. My family moved to their current home, and because the movers smoked the whole house smelled for two weeks. That was incredibly frustrating, it could have also been a health concern if one of them had an allergy to smoke. Being aware of what is being moved needs to be taken into consideration, having an open line of communication with the clients of what objects are where can prevent an accident or possessions being broken. Finally, an important quality I look for in a mover is promptness. Being on time speaks to reputation and is respectful of a clients time. If you are late without any communication it screams that there is no respect for the clients time.

  40. Hiring a moving company is a daunting task. Just the thought of allowing strangers into your home to go through your things, with hopes that they will treat your belongings with the care and love you would while packing them into boxes. Most people would chuck the idea out of the window, preferring to the packing on their own. But hiring a reputable and trustworthy moving company will remove the stress and loss of valuable time.

  41. Tips for Having a Smooth Experience with Movers

Moving is a stressful experience. Movers can make the experience easier if the customer
coordinates the job with them and does a little advanced planning. I’ve used movers several
times, and have developed a few tips from my experience that help the experience go smoothly.

Most importantly, plan ahead. Start at least one or two weeks before the movers arrive. Locate
and make a list of essential items you will need to start your new life. This might mean your
prized skillet for making breakfast or a favorite coffee mug. Maybe include some flatware and a
couple plates, if possible. The night before the movers come, gather these items in a box or tote
    labeled “Critical Objects.”

Designate another container for “Critical Papers,” and in it, collect any important documents you
might need soon after you arrive at your new home. This includes the contract from the movers!
Others might be legal and insurance records, current bills, identification, or permission slips.
Throw in a pen or two. When moving day comes, move these crucial boxes yourself, If possible.
Next, pack a suitcase with two days’ worth of clothes plus your toothbrush, soap and make-up
or shaving kit as needed. This will keep you from scrambling at your new location, opening
    multiple boxes looking for essentials.

With respect to the movers themselves, know that it is their mission to satisfy their customers,
but to do so quickly. As a result, they won’t be able to pack all possessions as if they are
precious objects. That said, most movers are willing to assign one packer to carefully deal with
one or two prioritized items or groups of objects, like family china. Decide in advance what items
need special attention, and communicate this to the movers when they arrive.

The next challenge is labeling. Because movers work quickly, standard practice is to label each
box with the room from which its contents originated. Upon arrival at your new location, boxes
will be moved to whichever room most closely approximates the name on the box. Later, this
    can make finding things difficult.

One way to address this problem is to stay with the person packing the most complicated room,
and label the box yourself. This might be the kitchen, where you can indicate which box has
what appliance, or kids’ rooms, which often have clothes, toys, books and electronics all in one
space. If possible, label the top and as many sides of each box as you can. This will help speed
identification in your new location. Also, you are empowered to describe things in whatever way
makes the most sense to you and your family—shorthand or nicknames no packer could
    possibly know.

If you plan ahead and communicate your needs to your movers effectively, no matter what
happens the day of the move, you will start the first day in your new location feeling empowered

  42. Accountability is my top priority when finding a moving company. Do they ensure (even INsure) your belongings and their safety? Do they take accountability for accidents like scraping the wall or your bookshelf? Do they treat your stuff and the places you’re moving from and to like their own? If yes, I’m much more likely to hire this accountable company.

  43. The price and reputation of the moving company will always be the biggest factors. I have never used a moving company before because I have not been able to find out that is cheap enough. As a college student who attends a university far from home, I already have a lot of expenses directed toward paying my education. I need a moving company that will not deter me from paying my next tuition bill.

  44. Obviously the price of a moving company would have a big impact on the moving company I would choose, but the next deciding factor would be the reputation of the company: I would look into reviews and possibly ask around to see who others would recommend. It would be very important for me to know that my valuables would be safe and that the movers are trustworthy.

  45. A great moving company consist of a friendly team that work effectively together.

  46. A moving company should set its eyes on what the customer wants but also be able to assert the idea that they, the moving company, know what they are doing. Any company should be focused on making their customers happy, but moving companies should especially take a liking to this idea. Moving is very, very stressful. I recently had to move my brother and his wife to their new home and it was something I do not look forward to. In order to better the experience I would focus on price, employee attitudes, and resources. You want to be able to make your customers a happy and give a good experience but you also need to let them know their valuables and furniture is in very good hands. Assert the idea that you are competent and reliable. Without this essential idea your company is one that the populous would not desire. Make sure that their belongings are all accounted for. Double checking to see if they made it is a way to win the hearts of the people. Making sure you get to the desired location on time is essential to making customers happy and trustful of your company.

I have never worked for a moving company, but I have worked for a well established and nice store and also worked for a Dollar Tree. With both of those experiences I have gathered that employees are a very, very important way to keep your company in good graces. It may even be the most important to your companies survival. At Dollar Tree the employees can give off a bad essence and make the experience bad. But if you hire good, trustful, and happy employees, the customer will enjoy the experience and more than likely return. Employees that not only get the job done, but create relationships with the customer are the type of people companies should hire. When we move, we don’t hire moving companies but rather ask our family, and in some cases our friends to help move. If you are forced to hire a moving company to do the work having a friendly face is something that shouldn’t just be wanted but expected.

  47. The change from one house to another is expensive just as it is, but when you add the price of a moving company on top of everything else, it can often become overwhelming. That’s why I think that the price of moving companies is a huge factor along with reputability. If I were to pick a moving company, it would definitely be one that charges reasonable rates while also having trustworthy reputation.

  48. A moving company needs to have a good reputation and seem trustworthy. I want to be sure that they are handling my possessions with care– otherwise I’m paying them to break things, which of course is not ideal and also is something a toddler would do for free. I prefer to be able to talk to the movers so they know which things to be extra careful with. A box full of clothes is fine to jostle around but be gentle with these dishes, thanks. Movers who don’t listen to your needs aren’t doing their job right! Additionally, the cost can’t be prohibitive. Obviously, you must pay enough to get reliable movers (instead of people who break your things), but my bank account only has so much in it.

  49. I’ll admit, I’m definitely looking for the moving company that will be most cost effective, but I want to also know that this moving company doesn’t have a bad reputation for broken items, etc. Things happen, I get it, but if there are excessive bad reviews, I will take my business somewhere else. Keeping the price consistent with what’s posted on the internet is also important. I don’t want to be under quoted and over pay for the job.
I did hire movers for a fairly quick job once and I was sorely disappointed when they took smoke breaks (during the time they were suppose to be moving my items) and my stuff smelled like cigarettes. (I’m not a smoker) I wasn’t so upset that I complained to the company but this was a major reason to not use them again.

  50. When looking for a mover, I evaluate two things:
    1. Cost- Given the student budget I’m on, I’m usually looking for the company that will provide the best service at the lowest cost. I’m all about getting a deal so I will search for coupons before paying full price.
    2. Customer Service- It is extremely important I get exceptional customer service. If I can’t call a few times before booking to get my questions answered or have to wait on hold for a representative, I take that into account. It’s very important to me that the company I choose isn’t trying to screw me over and values me as a customer and is considerate of my belongings. I want to trust the employees have my best interest as I’m the one paying their salary.

  51. Several things If the cost is cheap, the chances of the movers being fine with banging my belongings around is much greater and you end up paying the monetary amount you saved in the form of roughed up furniture. Therefore, the cost/care relationship is largely getting what you pay for in this industry. Another thing however, is the speed of which they are able to move you. I don’t want to be held up for weeks trying to get into my new home while the company holds my stuff hostage, taking their sweet time to get to where I need them to be.

  52. When my family moved out of town when I was in 2nd grade, we were trying to find the best company to accommodate our family. There were some difficulties, but in the end, we moved out of our little starter home into the home that we have been living in for over 10 years now.
Someday when I have a spouse or family and we are trying to move into either our starter home or our bigger home, there would be many things that I would look for in a moving company. Because of the memory and sentimental value of the home, moving can be very hard on a family. There would be a lot of emotions running and I feel that it is important for the company to understand that. It isn’t just pick up everything quick and get out. It would help if we knew that the company was personable and created a very memorable experience while quite literally moving to the next chapter of their life.
Life isn’t about the material possessions, the most important things in life deal with the memories and experiences.

  53. I think the best moving company would have strong, organized, friendly and trustworthy employees, as well as be affordable. They would be on time on moving day and greet their client with a smile. After all, moving is a very stressful life event! They would also be able lift my heavy furniture carefully without damaging it.

  54. Before selecting a moving company, I would look at online reviews, references from friends and family, the cost and above all, a company who could be trusted with my belongings. When my family and I moved from Puerto Rico, we had a great experience. The company brought everything on time and in good conditions. Maria

  55. I think price is impossible and it definitely is a good place to start when deciding on a moving company, but it’s not everything. Finding the perfect movers can be priceless. It’s hard to find someone who you can trust with all your very personal things. I think trustworthiness and credibility is an admirable quality to have in movers. Also, I want a mover who are good at their job and have a good time doing it. A moving company should be able to do their jobs in a decent amount of time and still have a good attitude while doing it. Moving can be a really emotional thing, so having movers with some amount of empathy and compassion is always a plus as well. I know this is probably a lot to ask from a moving company, but if I am expected to intrust all my valuables to you, I want it to be worth every cent. So be as expensive as you want but please be worth the money. I’d rather pay a lot and be content and have it done right the first time then going for cheaper company and being dissatisfied.

  56. Oh my God, moving is very stressful. When I was moving I called a lot of people and asked them what the price would be. A lot of places gave me different prices. Some even as high as 15,000 and as low as 3,000. I would have much preferred to see about what price it would be by taking a simple survey asking how many bedrooms, living rooms, storage I have, to decide how much I could fit on a specific size truck.. It would have been less stressful and I think would save employers money not having to hire customer service representatives to answer pricing questions. I believe it’s important to make the process as easy, simple, and efficient to make it as less stressful as possible during a move. I like people who can get everything moved out in a timely manner so I can focus on other things that are important to me. Also if something breaks or is missing I would like to know my things are insured and protected and it’s nice if that is offered through the moving company. I prefer no hidden fees, I like to know the total break down-cost of everything that I am paying for..Of course I would desire to pay as less as I can but at the same time I want quality service, so for me I would pay a little extra for that.

  57. Due to my neighbors getting bed bugs in the summer of 2017 and the bed bugs crossing over into my unit I had to get rid of everything I owned. As a single mother of 3, at the time ages 2, 8, and 11. it was truthfully one of the most painful moments I’ve ever went through in life. I worked so hard to accumulate the things that I did over the years and many things grew to have sentimental value. As a single parent of three I was just at a lost for how I could possibly afford to find a new place to stay in a few days time and how I’d be able to furnish it. From beds to pillows…we had nothing. For sometime we lived with family, but I eventually found a place of our own. For about 4 months all we had was a kitchen table that had been left in my mothers shed, a tv that was given to us, and blankets in which we used to cover and sleep with on the floor. I finally saved up enough to purchase a sectional 5 months into our hardship. We were all so happy for it. When you lose everything you find yourself appreciative and thankful on a level that most others just wouldn’t understand. My kids were truly troopers, and didn’t complain. They made the best out of the situation and lifted my spirits on many occasions during this trial and tribulation. Finally after about 3 months of sleeping on the sectional I was able to afford beds. I purchased 3 twin beds for the kiddos and a bed of my own. While we may have lost everything, I think going through the experience brought my family closer together. From patience to understanding…we were truly tested during our time of having nothing, but the table or floor to sit on. As of March 2018 our home was fully furnished, chairs at the table and all.

I say all of this to say, I will more than likely be moving out of town by summer of 2020 and what I will look for in movers is a company who prides themselves in moving peoples possessions in the same care that they would move their own. You just never know what people have gone through and how hard they had to work to have the things that they have.

If you asked me to choose between a start up moving company or a company that’s been around for decades…I’m going with the company with the workers I feel have a heart and who truly display kindness and concern for others.

  58. First, I evaluate quality when looking for movers. I would rather pay more for movers that care for my belongings than pay less for decreased attention to detail. Second, I would look for good customer service. If I trust a company to move my belongings I am looking for friendly, personable people that I can count on.

  59. As my family prepares for an upcoming move, we are mainly looking for a company with a good reputation to hire. I would say, in most transactions, I tend to do our research about our options first before just choosing the cheapest option. It is important for a company to have good reviews from their customers in order to gain trust from potential consumers. Apps like Yelp have significantly been useful to me as I weigh my options between different restaurants, nail salons, hairdressers, etc. Having one place where customers can weigh their options, such as this website as well, becomes extremely valuable in gaining that trustworthiness that I prioritize when selecting a moving business to work with. Especially when we are talking about personal valuables!

  60. I have never had to use a movers, but I have thought about how horrible it would be to have to pack up a whole house. First I would look for reviews and comments about a company from a public forum not a place like yelp which has a questionable reputation. I would also look for a company that would pack most of my items for me. Customer service is also important, I don’t want to go with a company that is not going to be careful with my things and who will ghost on me if I have a problem.

  61. When hiring a moving company, I look for a company that values their employees. Achieving balance between management and employee interactions will build a healthy company. It will allow communication, core values, and quality of work to speak for itself. Ultimately, branding the foundation and building credibility.

  62. The thing that I look for most within a moving company would be the respect the company gives their employees. When a moving company hold their employees to high standards and they enjoy the work they are doing they will be happier doing the job and more careful with the things they are moving. The moving company being respectful of my things is one of the most important aspects of which company I would pick, even if I had to pay more money for it.

  63. I find that moving companies aren’t always worthwhile, but that’s particularly because I live a minimalist lifestyle. I remember moving into the Brooklyn College dormitory in New York City where I was essentially living in a shoebox studio (maybe 70 square feet?). All I brought was 3 containers. 1 was a container of bulk purchases I’ve previously bought when they were on sale, so toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, etc. (Please though, imagine 50 of each type of item. That container was HEAVY.) The other was a container of my clothes. (Again, imagine over hundreds of clothing items stuffed into the container.) The last was a small container of my essentials so laptop, textbooks, etc. Sadly, no one in my family can drive. They didn’t know anyone who could. No one has the lifting capacity to help me move 2.5 containers. Thus, I had to hire 2 moving guys. I remember them telling me it was the easiest move ever. In my head, I’m thinking, “I could’ve saved the $200 for something else if only I could drive or had the strength.” I believe moving companies need to take into account how much is being moved and how long the trip is. I am adverse to moving with a company now because I feel like I overpaid, but I take full responsibility for it. I definitely know to look into price, distance, amount of items, and other factors now.

OK, rereading this, that’s not a minimalist lifestyle. It’s definitely a lot less than the average American. I truly live a minimalist lifestyle now. I can move with just 1 duffel bag because I just don’t own anything!

  64. While I have not yet had to look for a moving company, there are a couple things I would look for. I would first start by comparing prices and seeing which one is the most affordable/ has the best deals. I would then see if they have a social media account or any reviews through google, yelp, or social media platforms. I believe that this is one of the best ways to see which company is right for me. I’ll look for the way they interact with customers, their work, how quickly they can get the job done, and simply if other customers enjoyed their service.

  65. While I have never had to use a moving company because my parents and I have always done it ourselves, I can imagine just how hard it is to look for one. There’s so many factors to consider when it comes to looking for a great moving company such as the cost, the fees, the locations, the people, and the reviews. Besides the cost being very important, I believe reviews are just as important. As we are becoming the generation of technology, more places/businesses have their own yelp accounts or can be found through google. Thankfully, we’re able to see all the public comments made about these moving companies. It’s something that a couple of years ago you wouldn’t have the pleasure to do. They’d blindly pick a moving company simply because of the low price. However, we have the blessing of being able to see the opinions of the customers who’ve had encounters with these companies. Reviews and recommendations are very important when it comes to picking a specific company.

  66. My last experience with a moving company was for our first PCS from Hawaii to Iowa. The moving company we were provided was Island Movers. This was my first PCS and did not know what to expect, let alone I don’t recall ever using a moving company ever in my life so I really wasn’t sure about the process. When the two men came to pack up my little apartment, they were very friendly and answered all my questions. Our apartment was pretty bare because we only lived in the apartment for 5 months before getting word of our PCS so it didn’t take long either. They were quick and packed our things very well. When we received our household goods in Iowa everything was in tact and you could tell how well they packed all our items. I was very impressed and happy with our move with this company, hoping for our future moves we will get the same experience.

  67. I believe hiring a moving company goes beyond just cheap prices. I would rather look for quality over quantity. It is imperative that the movers love their job, that they perform their task with love, kindness, and a smile on their face. This character attracts customers because you can almost assure that the company values their team members and customers.

  68. To me, reputation is more important than cost. I would never use a company with a reputation for being careless or difficult to work with. I would look for a company with a reputation for care and being easy to work with; a company that wants to help you move. Not all moving companies are the same, and their reputation is what sets some apart from others.

  69. If I am renting equipment from a company to do the move myself, I expect to have the vehicles and equipment in good working condition. The last thing I want is to break down on the side of the road with all my possessions in tow.

If I am hiring someone to do the moving for me, I expect professionalism, efficiency, and no hassle. I appreciate when the movers are easy-going and caring, being sensitive to breakables and smart about the way our items are loaded. I appreciate no hidden fees or non-communicated costs, as these make a person feel taken advantage of.

  70. In a moving company I would look for something that is affordable and reliable!

  71. I would look for reviews that reflect the company having understanding employees that provide a quality service. Moving is not always a positive experience, and the employees’ focus should be removing the stress of the process itself. Additionally, appropriate costs are important in choosing a company to go with. The payment should feel just for the service provided.

  72. One thing that I highly value from a moving company is respect. Moving is stressful– it’s more than just throwing all of your belongings into a van and unloading it into a new house. Theres potential for valuables to be broken; things to be crushed under the weight of boxes; and everything to get mixed up into one big unorganized jumble that will never get properly sorted. A good moving company respects the customers items and makes sure everything is successfully transported without any damage being done. They also recognize the stressful side to moving and ensure that they are making everything as smoothly as possible.

  73. My family is looking to downsize due to recent financial issues. When we do pick a moving company, we will prefer one that takes the time to wrap and place our possessions carefully so no damage can occur. We would also consider one that upholds the correct licensing and has done the appropriate background checks on their staff. It is also vital that the moving company is understanding, polite, and communicates in a positive manner to families. If these three factors are upheld by the company, price is not an issue. We hope to find a great moving company in Maryland in the near future.

  74. I have never personally had a bad experience with movers, I once had movers when I was 13 and they were great! I remember that they did they’re job well and fast which I think is very important when being movers.

  75. From a moving company, I would expect workers to be efficient as well as considerate of customer’s belongings. If a moving company is reliable, it should have good reviews and referrals as well.

  76. The most important thing to look for when choosing a moving company is reputation. The security to know that your items are going to be well taken care of and not damaged in the moving process is vitally important. Also, you want to make sure that the moving company doesn’t drive away with all your belongings!

  77. If I had to hire a moving company, I would want to use a company has great customer service, affordable and would pack up my house and load it up in the truck and deliver it.

  78. The best price, good reputation, reliability, fast response, and proximity are the factors that influence my decisions in choosing movers. Ensuring that a place is trusted and has done successful transactions in the past can go along way. Having numerous reviews 4-5 star service and nearby is one of the first instincts of choosing movers. Additionally, usually getting is a price quote is the first thing. I know sometimes it can be hard to tell because there may be multiple factors such as distance between both source and destination points, the number of things, what types of stuff, the size of the vehicle required, and the number of hours needed to complete the job. It would be nice to get fast and accurate quotes or pre-generated quotes quickly because sometimes calling the direct phone line is not always reliable.

  79. What I believe is most important about a moving company is that they care about you as well as your belongings. I wouldn’t want to move with people who hated working the job and handling my property haphazardly.

  80. I have never hired a moving company, but I think hospitality and quality are the most important qualities.

  81. as long as they smile and can lift heavy things.

  82. The number one thing i look for is high ratings on yelp/online. I like this because, I can get a detailed list of likes and dislikes based of other customers experiences. I can also see how the company responds/replies to those customers who are not happy. Things happen and perfection is not realistic. Therefore, how a company handles mishaps weight big on my decision.

  83. If I were to higher a moving company I would want a company that can move things efficiently without damaging the things being moved or nicking up things on the wall. To me this is the most important thing. It’s okay if it takes a little bit longer than expected to move things because it is a lot of work. I would want to be charged at a reasonable price. I would not want to be charged above the average price. Other things I would want is that the movers are kind and friendly and respect your house by putting down a mat if they do not take their shoes off while moving. The last minor thing I would want in a moving company is them not being to slow. Again moving is a hard job and a lot of work so it’s okay if it takes a few hours. Just would not want the movers to be below average in their time efficiency. I am a very reasonable person and I imagine all moving companies have these exact standards. The company also needs to provide the total cost from the start. Everyone dislikes hidden fees and it just gets the customer upset when fees continually get added on.

  84. If I were to pick a moving company, I would base my choice off of reviews from other customers. I think it is important for moving companies to have a reputable website and to have client reviews on it

  85. My family has moved a lot during my lifetime and we have both hired movers and had friends help us. My mom’s constant problem with hiring movers is that they were not very careful when loading our belongings into the moving truck. Also, they often didn’t respect my mom’s opinions on how to organize the truck in a way that would make it easier for her to unload at the end of a move.

Based on her experiences, if I ever move on my own and decide to hire a moving company, one of the most important qualities I will look for is a respect for my property and for my opinions on how to organize my packed belongings. Instead of a detached, “this is the certified best way to load a moving van,” I would appreciate an understanding for individual methods of organization, and I would be willing to pay a bit extra for this quality.

  86. My family moved a lot during my childhood, and we have both hired movers and had friends help us. My mom’s constant problem with hiring movers is that they were not as careful and they did not listen to her opinions on loading the truck.

Based on her experiences, the quality I would most look for in a moving company is respect for my belongings and for my methods of organization. I would pay a bit extra for an understanding that different people have their own methods that work for them instead of being on the receiving end of efficiency for time’s sake.

  87. I want good prices and people who are efficient and trustworthy. I have dealt with people who took a week to move our stuff from our house when it should have taken two to three days maximum. They were overpriced and some of our stuff was broken as well. This is not acceptable and movers should be held accountable for things that break as well as the time the job is done in.

  88. I am 26 years old and I have moved 20 times. As a child, moving was fun. I looked forward to meeting new people, going somewhere new and taking long road trips. My parents always used the same moving company. Seeing a moving truck outside marked the beginning of a new adventure. My mom had bottles of water and snacks for our movers. I enjoyed watching them neatly arrange our whole life in a single truck. As an adult, I use the same moving company my parents did. They had awesome prices and were always professional and polite. The gentlemen were always careful and professional. They made every move something I looked forward too.

  89. For me, I need to trust my moving company, I mean they have EVERYTHING in my possession. I think the best way to find a solution to that would be taking personality into account throughout the hiring process. If my movers came to my house and were extremely friendly, warm, and personable, I would feel so much more comfortable about the move and be more likely to recommend them to others.

Now as for ideas. I think if there was a discount, maybe 10-20% for providing a full on breakfast for the movers when they arrive (assuming this is the morning, as most moves seem to be) the morale of the movers would skyrocket. Imagine walking into a home to help them move, and you are provided with omelettes, pancakes, coffee, you name it. Of course, this is optional, but the movers would love it and could help out those in a financial bind!

  90. 1.I have had not yet had an experience with a moving company.
    2. I usually get the aid of movers that I personally know, who I am in contacts with. Even though they are sometimes are inconvenient, I tend to save more money that way, because I am in the position, financially, where I can not just hire any mover.

  91. “It was my first big move by myself. I was moving to a completely different town that I didn’t know anyone in. I was on a budget so I had to find the cheapest offer I could. It all seemed okay until the day of the move. They showed up late and looked like they were hungover. They were extremely rude. Then, to top it all off, the truck broke down halfway there. Let’s just say I was very thankful when this very long day was over!”

  92. A moving company should be able to work with you are deadlines. Where the qualitly of the movers should be careful with your things and not be so quick to throw everything into the back to the truck. I one time was helping my friend move and the movers broke her new teleivision and the frams on the couch because of poor work man ship.

  93. The most important thing to me for a moving company is the care the workers put into making sure my items are transitioned to my new location unharmed. My family moved bout 8 years ago using FindMoversNow, they recommended a great moving company that treated all our possessions as if it was their own.

  94. If I am looking for a moving company, I would look for carefulness, reliability and price.

  95. Reviews, costs, and time are the items I would look for in a moving company. I would want a moving company that is inexpensive, but has excellent reviews and can move within a timely manner.

  96. What I personally look for in a moving company is efficiency, integrity, and good customer service. I need to be able to trust the company and movers as they have my belongings in their possession. They should also be able to move quickly and efficiently (I do not want to take all day to move.) all while maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor.

  97. Reputation matters the most. It doesn’t matter how cheap or friendly a company is. If they don’t have a great reputation then I’m not bothering with them. I don’t mind paying a little more to get a company that has a great reputation of getting the job done correctly while be respectful.

  98. Friendly movers, cost, trust, and professionalism are all things my family looks for in a moving company. All things equal out to a great experience and quality of the price you pay for. We have moved houses twice in one year and the difference between the two companies were all of the qualities we looked for, just the quality of them.

  99. When searching for a moving company, I start with reviews and costs. As regards reviews, I am looking for testimonials to a good reputation as friendly, reliable, and customer-oriented.

  100. As someone who has moved 7 times in the last ten years I think a moving company should have good reviews, a low price, and good movers. They should also be reliable and careful.

  101. Twelve year old me stood in the road in front of my house dribbling a basketball. “He’s goin’ in for a layup” I heard the imaginary commentator’s voice inside my head say. As I was about to shoot, another ball came flying in from nowhere and swished through the hoop. “Nothing but net,” a booming voice rang. I looked up and I saw the moving truck had arrived. One of the moving guys had found a ball in the middle of the road and made a perfect shot. The guys and gals at Mayflower Moving Co. were super rad and helped us move over a thousand miles. Leaving friends and family is always hard, but having those fantastic moving guys made the trek from Washington to North Dakota that much easier. Thank you to Find Movers Now for this scholarship opportunity!

  102. When looking for a mover, I want someone that is reputable. I want someone that treats my belongings as they would treat their own. My ex-husband was in the military so we moved many times. I’ve had things come up missing during the move, things get broken, and things get left behind. I know that some of these are par for the course but it’d be nice if we didn’t have to worry about things being stolen.

  103. Being the youngest sibling in my family, and the last one to go to college, I have been through a lot of move in and move outs for apartments and dorm rooms. What I’ve found is that even though it seems like a menial job, good movers have to be strong, smart and charismatic. The first move I was a part of was for my older brother as he was moving into his dorm and had to fit his whole life into the back of a van. For this move we had around nine family members there to help and we quickly found out that we lacked a lot of the required skills. Strength was difficult as we didn’t have many people that could lift heavy objects like fridges and dressers. For smarts, we were lucky to have my mom there because she has really good spacial awareness and could play the mental game of Tetris to fit everything into the two cars that we had available. And for the charisma, since we all knew each other there were no major conflicts but because moving heavy things stresses people out, there was a lot of miscommunication and yelling.
A few years later for my sister’s college move in, we wised up and hired some professional movers to help out. The difference in this move from the first was eyeopening. My sister had a LOT more stuff to bring to her dorm and yet all of it was moved out and packed up in half as much time as for my brother. Not to mention there were only three movers doing the work when we had triple that helping for the first move. From that experience I gained a newfound respect for movers and decided that when it came my time to move out I would let the professionals take care of it.

  104. A moving company should always be trustworthy and reliable. The movers must be respectful to both the consumer and their belongings. They have to be trusted to carefully transport the property between locations in an organized manner and minimize any damages or losses. These are standards for any moving company to abide by in order to create a solid reputation.

  105. I would look for movers who are reliable and cost friendly. I don’t want to be paying too much and I want to be able to trust them with my valuables.

  106. In my own experience, my family has always moved things on their own. Recently, this meant moving homes with multiple truck loads of fragile belongings. One particular hardship during this process, was moving a piano. This required great strength and patience as we drove across town. Obviously, in the case that we were moving a further distance we would have utilized a moving company. With this situation in mind, I value reputation of a business. This would give me piece of mind knowing that our belongings are safe.

  107. I expect care and quality from a moving company. Having a moving company rush while moving my items frustrated me because it showed a lack of care. The flippancy of the movers not only caused damage to my items, but it made me feel small and insignificant as a consumer. It made me wonder if had I been a different person of a different status would I receive different treatment.

  108. The most important thing I would look for in a moving company is reputation. I would check to make sure the company had lots of good reviews online to validate their reputation. Cost would come in at a close second. Moving is expensive, and I cannot afford for it to cost an arm and a leg. Cost of the service might be affected by the reputation, for instance, costlier for a company with thousands of 5 star reviews. However, I do not mind paying a little more for a guaranteed service where all my items are moved safely and efficiently.

  109. What I look for in a moving company: politeness, positivity, price, professionalism, proficiency, and punctuality.

  110. A moving company should be conscientious of all items in their position. It is crucial that moving companies understand the needs and expectations of each individual customer and take these seriously. The success of a moving company is hinged on their ability to cater to the needs of the individuals seeking the service.

  111. A moving company needs treat the customers items with care as if it were their own items. By respecting the property of the customers, they will be more likely to recommend the service to their friends and family if they know that their items were cared for when being transferred.

  112. What I look for in a moving company is politeness, efficiency, perfect pricing for my budget, and someone happy to do the job.

  113. You can tell a lot about a moving company by the way they handle your stuff. If they handle them rough, their lack of care will surface during the drive and it will be very obvious while unloading. I recently moved to the Northwest Coast from the Southeast Coast, and everything arrived in an impeccable manner. That is what I expect from a moving company.

  114. I moved cross country from Canada to US approximately 10 years ago. I’ve had to declutter and prioritize. Going through the border was difficult and I was subject to inspection. I had 3 vehicles full of my personal items. If I had to do this all over again, I would hire a professional moving company that has experience in cross country movement. Having 3 vehicles was difficult and time consuming. I believe one large moving truck would have been less stressful.

  115. When looking for a moving company, I would look for one that is reliable, trustworthy, dependable. I would look for a company that exhibits a quality job in a timely matter. I would also seek out a company that presents good customer service. I believe these qualities are essential to consider when searching for a moving company.

  116. My spouse and I have moved 9 times in the last seven years, most recently to NYC. When moving, we try to balance price and reliability. It is important to have your possessions well taken care of, but you also have to know that it is worth your time to pay for those possessions to travel. A company that can balance those two concerns ranks highly for us.

  117. Lets face it, nobody gets excited about moving. Everyone has to do it at some point, but its frowned upon by most. At the end of the day, all you want from a moving company is reliability and convenience. The last thing you want to worry about while moving, is the dependability of the vehicle you rented. When researching a company for potential business, all i am looking for is size, price and easy user experience. Most consumers do not enjoy long check out periods while renting. A company who can master what consumers want, is going to be the most successful. And finally, from my experience, nobody likes to be harassed to buy merchandise sold by the company you are renting from. If a customer is looking for something they will ask. I understand you have to be pro-active when it comes to sales, but know your audience. They are not there to buys leisure items.

  118. When moving into my college dorm, finding a company to handle my belongings was near impossible, and I ended up having to rent a car just to drive to my dorm and all the way back home. I feel that short distance movers are in high demand and low supply, especially for college students like myself.

  119. 1. Moving companies should be easy to find or get in contact with. If you need your stuff moved would you want to get a moving companies voicemail? I remember being frustrated when I need to move my piano in a crunch. I called numerous moving companies to find the best deal and I was disappointed that most of them didn’t answer they were closed. A moving company that is open most hours of the day, seven days a week or at least someone to answer the phone during that time would be preferred versus hoping they’ll respond to your voicemail. It would also be very helpful if there was a way to schedule moves online.
    2. Moving companies should be more transparent with their terms and prices. Have you ever been happy with a rate until you discover all the extra fees that weren’t initially mentioned? I’ve spent countless minutes on the phone with a moving company trying to understand all of the added fees and steps to moving.
    3. Movers should be polite. I’ve had loud movers in my house carrying on there personal conversations I rather not hear. They should always smell nice. Understandably, they sweat while moving heavy things sometimes in warm conditions but they should not have an offensive odor.
    4. Movers should be careful and quick. Since movers are usually paid by the hour, it is frustrating movers who are wasting time and not focused on the task. It is also just as frustrating when they are careless with your stuff and transport something incorrectly or damage something.

  120. When I need someone to move my stuff, I like to make sure I’ve hired trustworthy people who will treat my things like they would treat their own. Although I take great care when wrapping and boxing my items, there can always be a mistake made when packing up the truck or not properly stacking boxes with fragile things in them.

I recently worked with an independent company when I moved into my apartment and they were not only efficient but, they let me have a say in helping load and unload the truck. I felt like they really understood how nerve-wracking it can be to move and they were wonderfully nice to me!

  121. My family hired a local moving company with decent reviews and cheap prices. However, the experience was a total failure when the movers showed up to the house intoxicated and hardly able to function. The movers ended up breaking some of our things and barely made it out of the job alive; they almost dropped a fridge on themselves! We ended up doing most of the moving and definitely did not get the service we paid for. Needless to say, it pays to do your research on the company you are using and, sometimes, it’s worth it to pay more money to ensure quality service. A respectful, organized, and dependable company is the type of moving company I plan to look for the next time I need to move!

  122. What I look for in a moving company is people you can trust, that respect you. Moving is a long, emotional, tiring process. So if you can really trust your movers, it makes the experience so much better.

Recently, a close friend of mine of about 6 years had to move across the country with his family, and I helped him out with the moving and packing as much as I could. It was really hard for us, because he had lived in our town his whole life and his family didn’t really consult him with moving, they just made the decision and told him. But the moving company his parents hired were really helpful, they helped us pack, talked to us about big changes that result from a move like this, and even gave us advice on how to stay in contact in the different time zones.

The moving company was extremely patient with us, and earned our trust quickly all because they were trustworthy and helpful with all our problems, not just the ones related to moving. I’m sad that I don’t see my friend every day anymore, but I know he had a great moving process and we’re listening to the advice on how to stay in contact. Overall a sad but great experience

  123. When i was younger, we moved from Utah to Ohio, and a couple years later back to Utah. We hired movers to help with all our stuff. we found out quickly that some people are just there to get paid. they didn’t really care much about what was being moved and if it had a lot of important things. they just did there job. One the way home though we hired a different compy and found out that they cared. we talked with the supervisor and they said they have one on ones frequently to focus on what they are doing and seeing how to impove always. it helped us out big time to know and see that all the people moving had it under very good control.

  125. If my family and I were to move, we would want a company that is considerate, trustworthy, and upfront. First, we would not want any of our belongings to be damaged in the moving process nor would we want the places we are moving to and fro to be left a mess. A company that handles everything with care would be ideal. Additionally, when hiring a moving company I would need to be able to trust that everything in the previous place of residency made it to the future place and nothing was stolen. Finally, after the whole struggle of moving to a new place, the last thing anyone would want is hidden fees. My family and I would look for a company who gives you the full price up front. This would make for the ideal moving experience.

  126. If I was looking for a moving company, I would want one that has their employees background checked, and for them to be reliable. I would want to pack my own stuff. The company wouldn’t be a relatively new one, since they wouldn’t be as experienced, and they can’t have any hidden fees. It would be nice if they offered a product insurance, where I could insure certain valuable products and if they get broken, I would either get them replaced or repaired.

  127. I want the moving company to be reliable, experienced, and upfront. I want to pack my own stuff in boxes, and the employees need to be safe and reliable. No reckless behavior or being impatient.

  128. Most important thing to me is integrity. I have to be able to trust the movers with my items some of which could be spendy and valuable. Price may be a deciding factor but most things with higher cost are better quality. I have family that works for New World Van Lines that is a moving company and they are global. I like that because I am not limited by miles. They are family owned and care deeply about their employees and their customers. The integrity this company holds is why they would be my first pick every time. They are efficient and keep in touch with customers along the way. If you haven’t considered New World Van Lines you should.

  129. One of my favorite things about my dad is that he is ambitious. However, he is a little over ambitious when it comes to moving. A few years ago, my aunt moved from Florida to Connecticut and my dad, being the selfless brother that he is, offered to drive the moving van. Which was going great until he drove under a bridge where the clearance was too short and ended up shearing the top of the rental van off in the pouring down rain. Fast forward to the start of my graduate program in Philadelphia two years ago, my dad once again offered to drive the moving van. After 2 days of driving, and another 2 days of assembling furniture, my dad and I vowed that we are never moving anything ever again and instead, hiring a moving company. When that time comes, we will look for a moving company that is selfless, will treat your property as if it were theirs, and above all, safe!

  130. If I dont know anyone personally that has used the company I look at reviews and how recent the reviews are. I look for a company that has a good reputation and that is insured. I’ve had bad experiences with things getting lost and damaged. My dining room table was all scratched and the corner was damaged beyond repair and they claimed it was like that prior. Needless to say, you get what you pay for.

  131. Over the past 3 years, I have moved twice myself and helped my significant other move 3 times. These moves have consisted of everything from throwing away everything except the bare minimums to hiring a full moving company to move all the furnitures. Based on these experiences, I would definitely say that the two most important factors are 1) the trustworthiness of the movers and 2) the cost. In particular, trusting the movers to have access to your home and your belongings is paramount to the decision behind choosing a mover. On the cost point, as a recent college graduate with little savings, a significant price difference could definitely swing the decision from one mover to another

  132. Moving is difficult, I want movers who understand that and make it as easy as possible and as comfortable as possible. I need to be able to put all my trust into them seeing as they are moving everything I know and love. I need to know nothing will be lost in the process nor broken.

  133. The thing that I look for in a moving company starts with things like honesty, compassion, friendliness, efficiency, and enthusiasm. I would want my moving company to be upfront with me about what the price of moving is going to be and that they have workers that try to efficiently move all of my things while remaining friendly. As moving can be a stressful time, I feel like compassion is something that is required of the workers so that they can be understanding of why the customers may be short tempered. Trust is important with movers as well because there has to be a trust that someone is not going to take your valuables or break any of your things. All of these things are vital to having a moving business that would attract me to want to use their services.

  134. My family and I have never used a moving company because we would move 10 minutes away to another apartment every time. However, if we were to move to a farther location, I would contract a moving company that cares about my belongings as much as I do.

  135. I’ve never moved father than 10 minutes, so my family has never hired a moving company. If we were to, I would want them to care about my belongings as much as I do.

  136. The first thing that I look for in a moving company is trust. I always look at the reviews that have been previously posted, or by recommendation from someone who has used them as well. Pricing is another key component I look for when researching moving companies. I don’t always think or say, cheaper is better, because that is not always correct. Sometimes you may have to pay a little more, but what is better, paying a little more and knowing the quality of service is excellent, or paying less, and getting what you paid for, the way the saying goes. I want to know that I can trust the company that will be transporting my items regardless if it is 10 miles down the road or across states. If it is being explained that my delivery will be a certain date and time, then that is what I expect to see, as well as my items being handled with care. When one owns and operates a company, they need to have respect, compassion and show great quality, in order to maintain a good name and to maintain business. The employees they hire need to know that they are representing the company and as well show the same qualities.
My past experience with a moving company was excellent, I actually did get what I paid for. I may have paid a bit more then the competing pricing out there, however, their scheduled timing was on the exact date, the exact time, nothing was damaged or missing. They were respectful and extremely polite. They unloaded all our personal belongings and placed them in the rooms where they needed to be with no attitude or comments.

  137. I recently moved from the Midwest to Pacific Northwest, and after making the big move one of the key things I would want to a moving company to have is transparency. Being up front and honest about cost, what they are comfortable moving, and just being real, honest people. When you move, you take everything that means something to you so I want to make sure the right people are handling it.

  138. Large brown boxes, big moving trucks, bubble wrap, and having an anxious feeling of moving can be overwhelming if one person is in charge of everything. Having a moving company can definitely move the weight of your shoulders, but they are several factors to consider. One thing is recommendations and not from a website, but from people that you know. Those closes to you can give a more concrete answer than someone just commenting on a website. Their experience can be quite different from yours but do take it into consideration. If you rely on reviews look for the good and the bad and the years of operation. Another thing to consider and most important is license and insurance. Any group of people with a vehicle can claim to be moving company but unless they are register with the state I would not even consider hiring them. Making sure to ask the right questions and knowing what exactly is included from the movers to additional packing materials and other potential higher rates. Finally, the price and deposit the company is asking for. Moving companies are being established every day and although the competition is everywhere making sure the company is legit can save one in the long run. So, whether you moving to a five-bedroom home or a small studio is critical to make sure choosing the right moving company is the right move.

  139. The things I look for most when choosing a moving company is the quality of the company’s work and their price. I often look through the company’s reviews to ensure that other customers have had a positive experience and that their property was not damaged/mishandled. As long as they have good reviews and do not seem to have hidden costs, that name goes to the top of my list.

  140. The most important thing about a moving company is price and transparency. Price is, of course, important because a lot of people look at the prices first. Transparency is also important because both sides to be honest with each other. Both sides needs to trust each other and tell one another what can or can not be moved. If anything, it would be very nice moving company showed extra care for a fragile object but having extra cushioning or handling it more carefully.

  141. A moving company and their employees must exude integrity always, efficient service, and provide outstanding customer service skills to successfully become a leader in the industry. Such qualities are highly sought out for by consumers to entrust a moving company to haul valuables during a difficult process. Additionally, a company must consider building a reputable name for themselves on various media accounts, and by word of mouth based on customer experiences.

  142. Last time I moved we used Bekins, we had past experience with that company. We had family members recommend them. They were middle of the road pricing, not as expensive as some but not as cheap as the lesser known places. They are a well established company which helped us in trusting them with our belongings.

  143. Deciding to move is a lot more than just putting all of your stuff in a different location. Moving involves change, uncertainty, doubts, anxiety, excitement, and many more emotions all at once and often during a very stressful deadline. Aside from the personal and professional links that I may be moving and detaching from, the question of how will to actual move everything into a new home holds a weight on one’s shoulders that the right moving company can lift and carry for you (literally, furniture weighs a ton). Tackling packing, loading, hauling (in how many trips?), and unloading is an unnecessary burden. However, hiring the wrong moving company can cause even more of a headache. But how do you know which company to choose? The one with a catchy slogan and the most ads may be alluring, but i’d read the real life reviews and do a few background checks to assure the quality and legitimacy of the company I will be trusting with years of accumulated and valuable goods. I have moved a couple of times, and the companies which offer friendly and flexible movers, provide adequate transportation and infrastructure, show reliable and experienced employees, and are eager and willing to work with my schedule and timeline are at the top of my list. I also make sure that after I get estimates from multiple companies and that the company I choose gives me an exact price rather than a ballpark number, because there are so many hidden little fees that companies can tack on when the customers aren’t paying attention. I need to know what I am getting and for what price, then I can make an informed decision based on my physical and financial needs and wants. Given that moving is already a nauseating and difficult process, and there are so many other events that go along with it, I like to ensure that the moving company is able to provide me with a written and signed assurance of the timeline for pickup and delivery. Furthermore, I need simplicity. Talking with just one coordinator and supervisor of the entire process with whom I can work out all the details and guarantees with is invaluable during such a stressful time. Lastly, without a doubt, the company must have excellent insurance and I need to be able to understand how to make a claim if I need to (hopefully, after all the care taken to choose the best service this step isn’t necessary). My mother moved across state lines and the truck filled with my childhood treasures and irreplaceable memories were lost, and the company she chose had no clear way to ensure adequate compensation. This event was devastating to her and to me, a clear reminder of why it matters to find a company with the best possible services and insurance. A moving company can alleviate so much anxiety and stress when they provide quality services, personalized and guaranteed time schedules, and have all the necessary legal processions in place to carry out such a service. Changing homes means changing your life, and the right moving company can make the transition simple and easy.

  144. Recently, my family and I moved across country; from California to North Carolina. We drove there so the moving company could follow, and honestly it was quality over quantity that took the cake. There wasn’t a big team that helped with the moving process, but it was the efficiency and effort they put into their work to get the job down. I for one, was struggling just thinking about moving across country in car, so for the company to be supportive and genuine, it took the stress and pressure off my family’s shoulders. I always look for a good spirit, If you’re negative before the process started then it will definitely be hard for the company to fit an individuals needs.

  145. It’s unfortunate, but I’ve been sexually harassed by a lot of men who work in home service industries in the past. This includes roofers, exterminators, and yes-movers. So to me what is really important for me to feel comfortable is for there to be at least one woman on the crew. I know that most movers are great guys and would never do this, but because of bad experiences, I just feel a lot more comfortable with a woman present.

  146. Some of the qualities that I value in a moving company include courtesy, professionalism, and transparent pricing. I also look for expertise by the movers so that I can trust them to move my belongings with care and knowledge.

  147. I have never used a moving company before, but I will be when I move after college. Some of the most important things I will be looking for in a moving company will be trustworthiness. They will be handling everything that I own, and I need to know everything will end up where I need it to. I will also look for honesty. I want someone who will be upfront about their company and not looking to scam their customers. Someone who puts their customers at the top of their priorities is a must. Reading the reviews of a company can be very telling of the quality of service they provide, but having positive interactions personally are also very important.

  148. Most moving company’s offer similar and comparable prices, so it is important to verify that the moving company is licensed, bonded and insured. For me, it is important to know who I am working with and who I let into my home. To allow strangers to come in and assist in moving items that could be personally priceless requires much trust. I additionally look for a company that does background checks as well as keeps open communication and provides excellent customer service. I look for a company that arrives timely and ready to help load up, make the move and get everything off loaded and set up in the new home. To me, these are the make or break requirements that I stand by in order to conduct business with a company.

  149. The most important thing about our movers was they were efficient but careful with our belongings. They acted as if it was their furniture they were moving.

    • Growing up my family never hired a moving company to help us move our belongings. Although we did move a lot there is one thing I think would have helped us on hiring a company when we needed them. And that would be the cost! I am aware that movers have to make money, however I feel like some company’s should be reasonable or offer a short payment plan to the middle and lower class. Causing less injury to unlicensed people and more money to workers. Some other things I would for, if I were to ever need a moving company, would be competitive rates, good/ bad reviews, value protection, professionalism, and movers who moved your things, as they would their own family. Moving is not easy nor fun, but at the end of day it has to get done.

  150. Some things that I look for in a moving company are. Good reviews from past customers. Fair prices. Polite movers that careful with the items when moving and packing. As well as movers the help you to move items into the place and make sure that everything is where you would like. A good moving company is a company that has good values and care for the customers.

  151. The most important aspect I look for in movers is care of products. I would rather the move take slightly longer and know my belongings don’t get broken, scratched or damaged.

  152. I used a moving company to move into my home when I bought my home. They moved in one of my televisions last and never did unwrap it, but left it in my living room. When I had the TV company come to mount the tv on the wall they unwrapped it and it was completely broken and the company refused to take care of it.I will never use them again

  153. For me trust is everything. When I choose a moving company I want to be able to know that my things will be safe in their hands. I would also look for a company that is organized and efficient in what they do. They should also be kind and considerate to me and my belongings.

  154. The most important thing to me is a moving company MUST be clean. We once got bed bugs from a moving company that had transported bedbug ridden furniture before us. We ended up spending over $2000 to have our house heat treated.

  155. My family has never hired a moving company to move or help move our belongings. We have always done it ourselves or asked friends, if extra help was needed. However there are a few things I would look for, if I were to ever hire a moving company.
    1. I would look at the total cost, see if they’re reasonable and research to see if they offered competitive rates.
    2. I would look for good and bad reviews, to see how professional or rude they were.
    3. I would look to see if they offered value protection, just in case something were to break.
    4. I would want them to treat my belongs, as if they were moving something for their family.

  156. Growing up my family never hired a moving company to help us move our belongings.

  157. Growing up my family never hired a moving company to help us move our belongings.

  158. There are two words that come to mind when I think about what a moving company should be: respectful and reliable. Respect is extremely important because movers are handling your most valuable possessions and you have to have complete trust that they will treat your items with the utmost care. Moving is already a stressful enough experience, so knowing that your possessions are being handled respectfully makes the process a little easier to handle. Reliability is also vital when considering a moving company because with reliability comes open communication, trustworthiness, and professionalism. Experience and good reviews also go hand in hand with reliability. I know I always look for moving companies that show they are respectful and reliable in every aspect of the move through their reviews. Transparency is a necessity.

  159. Like most customer service companies the most important thing to remember is that you have to complete the job in an efficient, safe, and effective way that will please the customer. In a moving company I look for respectfulness and professionalism from the employees. Additionally, it is very important for movers to care the customers belongings as if it were theirs. You wouldn’t throw your own furniture into the truck after dragging it across the floor, so that same thing shouldn’t occur to the customers furniture and belongings. Lastly, it is important to be quick but effective, as much in a short period of time, this means all hands on deck.

  160. The most important feature of moving a company is how they are rated and reviewed by people who have used their services in the past. This includes a five star scale rating and taking into consideration the reviews and experiences of those who have used a certain moving company before. There are also many factors to consider such as distance moving, how much is being moved, and a timeframe when belongings should be moved. Once you can trust a moving company, it is also important to consider price and finding a company that is very transparent in pricing. This ensures there are no special costs or hidden fees that will be charged later. Also, you must figure out the policies of moving companies regarding what happens if there is damage to your belongings. You should look for insurance or some type of coverage that could be used an adds up to equal or greater than the amount of damage that would occur. You would not want a company just paying less for an item that actually has a greater value and that they should pay for damaging. Of course, if it is not damaged in the first place, the better. Just to summarize, the most important factors to look for in a moving company are reliability and ratings, transparency in pricing, and the assurance they can move your belongings to a destination safely for a reasonable price.

  161. The most important things I look for in a moving company are 1) their availability to pick up/deliver my goods and 2) how they label and catalog my goods during pack-up. There’s nothing worse than when you’ve already reached your destination and got the keys to your new house/apartment and then you call the moving company and they’re not available to deliver your goods for weeks. Maybe if you’re solo it’s bearable, but when this happens and you have young children or infants that you’re taking care of, it’s REALLY inconvenient. Also, the way a moving company labels the household goods–both on the box itself and in the inventory–is key to a smooth move. I’ve lost of count of how many times the moving company wrote illegibly on the box or the inventory and then my family is opening boxes at random trying to find the box with the bath towels in it or the boxes with the kitchen appliances. If any moving company gets these two items right, they’ll have a life-long customer.

  162. Recently I have helped my friend move out of his old home into a new one only on the other side of town. His family talked to many moving companies and most could not fit them anywhere into the schedule until after the old house had been closed on. So one thing that would help there outlook on moving companies would be to have more workers during the busier moving times of the year which will only bring in more business. One thing I look for in a moving company is simply friendliness, as long as you are kind and friendly to my family and I and of course get the job done well, I will recommend your moving company to anyone and everyone I know.

  163. The thing I look for when I am analyzing moving companies is for people that I can trust. I want the movers to handle my furniture and objects with care and be able to trust that they will safely move all of my belongings.

  164. The most important thing to look for in a mover is efficiency. An efficient mover can pack, move, and transport valuables quickly while still being able to take care of delicate items.

  165. I once had to spend a year living outside of my home while it was being rebuilt, and everything needed to be moved out from the house and placed in storage. We hired movers because we family couldn’t carry all of the heavy furniture by ourselves. One of the most important things to look for in a mover, I’ve found, is not just finding someone willing to drive your belongings from place to place, but also ones that will go the extra mile and help move items out of and into your home/storage space. The first moving company we chose left our belongings in the parking lot of the storage complex and drove away, leaving my family of two adults and three small children to haul everything up to the second floor by ourselves. The second company we hired, on the other hand, was very courteous and helped us move everything back into our house (and received a much better tip).

  166. When it comes to having a mover, I would prefer to have someone who has a good track record for being on time, about their business, as well as preferably a good price range as well. Most of the time I would have friends to help move things that are pretty small, like a few chairs, a small table or a tv. These are just a few of the things that I would like to see in a good moving company, just like the ones that I have dealt with, such as Two Men and A Truck.

  167. When looking for a moving company, the most important things to me are price, reputation, and friendliness. As a college student, I need to have movers that are affordable for me while I am simultaneously working part time and going to school full time. Reputation is important to me because if I’m trusting someone with my most valuable possessions, I want to be sure that they will be well taken care of. Friendliness is important to me because it’s not difficult. Every one has off days, but kindness goes a long way. A company that recognizes the value of kindness will most likely be worth the investment to me for every move I make.

  168. It has been over 10 years since I last moved, but with the time to move coming up very soon, this has been something that I have been thinking a great deal about. What I would find most important is that the movers are dependable and communicate often about what would be the best course of action and how avoid potential problems. Moving is not the most common activity for most people, so people are not always the knowledgeable when it comes to this. I would most definitely appreciate guidance to what I should do and what is going on along the way.

  169. I think it is important that a moving company be cautious with belongings, receptive of customers concerns, and be insured.

  170. The most important things for a moving company is a mixture of three things. They need to have a good reputation (in the form of online reviews preferably), not be too expensive, and to take care of my belongings well.

  171. The most important thing about movers is that they have a good reputation with some solid reviews online to back them up. I want to be able to know that I can trust them. It is also important that they aren’t too expensive because I am a college student.

  172. As a 22-year-old living in the attic of my parents’ home, naturally, I am dying to move out. When my time in graduate school comes to an end, I am sure I will be looking to move into a place that I can call my own. Sure, I could call up some of my friends who would have to walk up and down three flights of stairs about 100 times, but I’d rather not lose any friendships. A moving company where employees interact with customers like friends and family would be an ideal experience. It is already assumed that this team of movers is efficient, timely, and delicate with fragile and valuable items. More importantly, I would prefer to hire a team that is friendly and upbeat where we can make some fun out of a rather tiring and unpleasant day. I think attitude is contagious and it plays a huge role in the moving process. With spirited crew, they can help to turn a long day of moving out of a childhood home into the first good memory in a new chapter of life.

  173. Things that I think are important things to look for in a moving company are professionalism, time efficiency, and reputation. The company must be willing to work with the customer while remaining respectful and willing to get the job done to the best of their ability. Being the best isn’t always a key selling point — effort shows and in my opinion, trumps skill in some cases. Any company that puts forth their best effort will most likely be able to get the job done well and quickly. If those things are done well, their reputation will be great.

  174. I would like to be able to think, “Move b***h, get out the way.. get out the way.. get out the way,” and for it to actually happen with the help of movers.

  175. One important thing to take into consideration when hiring movers is how you want your belongings getting on and off the delivery truck. My family and I one had to move out of our house for a year while it underwent construction, and we hired two different moving companies. The first company dropped our furniture and other such possessions in the parking lot of the storage complex and drove away, leaving my family of two parents and three small children to haul everything up to the second story by ourselves. The second company was very courteous and not only took our furniture down from the storage space, but also helped move it back into our home. Needless to say, the second company gave us a better experience, and received much more of our gratitude (and much more of a tip).

  176. To me this means having a crew of people who I can have background information on and hear positive reviews about professionalism and there good reputations across multiple different accounts

  177. We hired a moving company when moving from Germany back to the States (military) and ended up going with the lowest bid- Mistake. Are newly purchased Grandfather Clock and new furniture was damaged and we were missing some items. In the future, I would spend a little more money to guarantee better service.

  178. The most important thing about movers and their company is that they are efficient but careful while unloading or helping their customer however they can.

  179. I have never personally had to use a moving company but I have a brother that has multiple times. His experiences were both good and bad and if anyone were to ever ask me for advice on the topic, I would tell them what he told me. Read reviews and if there is an option to pay extra for insurance or a safe handling fee through the company, do so. My brother explained to me that the first company he ever used, he put a lot of research into finding. This meant reading lots of reviews and simply asking around. The company was great, his furniture arrived on time and everything was in great condition. A few years later my brother was moving again and decided to use the same moving company since he had such a great experience with them the first time. He decided not to pay the extra safe handling/ insurance fee this time. To his disappointment, some of his furniture and belongings were “misplaced” and never returned. Additionally, I would recommend comparing prices between companies and not choosing the first company that you see.

  180. Being prior military I have moved many times and have been with numerous companies. The ones I enjoyed the most were the ones who dressed as a team, they wore company shirts and worked as a team. Many times we would have a single person in charge, they would assign rooms to people and then nothing, no interaction with each other. But then there were the companies that worked together to clear a room at a time. The would be more understanding of what is in what box, how its packed and ensured there would be minimal damage. Professionalism is the key. Not only looking the part, but acting the part as well, being efficient and understanding of the needs of the mover, we are already going through many stresses, having every little item pointed out is not helping, we want you in and out as quickly as possible, be prepared and ready to get the house packed up and out the door.

  181. The most important quality I look for in a moving company is care. I have had experiences where my belongings were damaged because the movers were careless. They are entrusted with cherished possessions and the fruits of someone’s hard work and I believe that should be a consideration of the job.

  182. Being an Army Vet. I have moved a few times, and honestly I believe the best quality a moving company can have is honesty. Don’t get me wrong it’s great that they be neat, organized, polite, punctual, professional, and have a reasonable price, but when you have something of value that did not make it off of their truck you want them to be honest enough to return to you what is rightfully yours.

So the military sends a moving company to whatever address you give them, and they pick up things that you have already listed for pickup. Well in my list was a photo album that my grandmother started for me when I was four years old. This album had everything in it from my first tooth to fall out, to the first lock of hair to cut from my head. All kinds of awards, letters, and special family moments captured on Polaroid, so when I did not see this album while unpacking I began to panic. I called home to make sure that it wasn’t there, and to my dismay it was not back home. I called the moving company, but they had already gone home for the day. All I could do is hope they had it and wait to call them the next day. The next day came and I could not wait for 0900 so I could get this business of locating my album done with. 0849 rolls around, and there is a knock at my door, and I could have fallen out in the hall way when I saw one of the movers waving my album back and forward. Not only did I not have to call them, but this man went 30 minutes out of his way, on his way to work, to bring me something that meant nothing to him. He told me that he had looked through it, and it made him tear up a little to know that I might be looking for this book so he made it his business to bring it to me himself. He apologized for not calling, but he or none of the guys that were with him could remember my phone number and they had already turned in the paperwork from the delivery. All that did not matter because I had my album!!!

  183. Anytime someone is moving to a new location, no matter the reason, it can be very stressful. With this being said, I think its important that the process goes as smoothly as possible, especially if you are moving to a whole new city or town. When it comes to having movers, I prefer that they are understanding, hardworking, and professional. I want them to be efficient, but also know when to be careful with my possessions. I rather have a team take an extra hour than rush through the afternoon. Overall, I just want friendly communication between my movers and I, so that we can get the job down together and easily!

  184. There are many components that are important when choosing a moving company. A relative of mine used a moving company to transport some of her antique furniture into a large Victorian Style home. When moving a sizeable curio cabinet out of the truck, one of the movers fell off the ramp. The cabinet tumbled to the ground and crashed into pieces. Thankfully, the moving company had insurance to reimburse her for the damages. Besides this occurrence, the company had excellent service, an extremely important aspect for a company. Other crucial things besides a company being insured are communication, credibility, positive customer service, availability, and employee information. What I mean by employee information is how do they hire their employees? I want to know who I am entrusting with my belongings and allowing into my home. I look for reviews online, any personal accounts from people I know, and a positive presence on the phone and face-to-face if I have the opportunity to meet with the company. First impressions and accommodating, positive interactions are definitely influential. A strong, updated website is also helpful and impressive.

  185. The most important thing I look for in a moving company is several good reviews and even recommendations from people that I trust or know well.

  186. I think it’s important to look at reviews of moving companies, I want to see that they have several good reviews and little to no bad ones. I also trust recommendations from people that I know and have used the moving company in the past.

  187. Being approachable. It’s simple, but it’s one of the most important factors when interacting with someone. It’s not about how they look, or dress, but how they hold themselves and speak. – your appearance and actions are our first impressions of your company.

  188. We moved from Ohio to Arizona for my husband’s job. The most important thing to us is the price. Moving is expensive. We used u-haul, but honestly. I am more interested in using a pod type company when we move back home. It is more expensive, but is less stressful and you have more time to load everything.

  189. When I think about moving companies, I want one that has a decent price and one that also has a good reputation because I don’t want my things either damaged or stolen during the process of them moving my belongings. I’ve personally never had a negative experience with moving companies, but I don’t plan on having any in the future either.

  190. I think it’s really important to have a good price. That’s what most people look for. Also to have good service. Making sure employees are equipped for the job and are good at communicating what needs to be done and how.

  191. My first move with my family out of our childhood home was very interesting. I had never experienced moving my life into a new home and environment. In some ways, this process is very emotional. All the memories that are attached to that specific place are suddenly going away and you are left in a completely new and foreign place. When my family moved, we decided to hire a moving company that employs different sports teams to be the movers. In our case, we had a group of football players move us. They were a fun group of individuals, making the move actually entertaining. My sisters and I would overhear their jokes and comments about the move for two days straight. It made the difficult situation of moving from the home we loved, a little bit easier. They did a great job moving our belongings. They weren’t as experienced as most moving companies, but they really cared and made sure to double check everything with us, and constantly ask clarifying questions. When looking for a moving company, I believe having respectful relationships with the movers is crucial. If they understand what you really want, and care about the results, it will make the process of moving much more successful. Price does play a big part in choosing a moving company, however at the end of the day, you are trusting these movers with all of your belongings. The value you place on your household items will dictate how much you are willing to pay for this service. I believe moving companies should strive to have affordable prices and provide quality service. I want to see that a moving company listens to your wishes as the customer, and takes care of your belongings in the way you request.

  192. Moving is a monumental time in someone’s life. Most, if not all, their valuables are being moved with them to their new place of work or living. These objects vary to every individual, ranging from trophies won in competitions, to pictures with family and friends to stuffed animals given to them by loved ones. In stating this, having a moving company that is reliable and trustworthy is necessary. Because you are not only trusting them to safely transport these objects, but also to present them in the same condition in which you left them.

  193. What I look for in a moving company:
    1. Good reputation
    2. Fast, simple, and easy methods
    3. Care and gentleness when handling my items
    4. Truthful and upright representatives from the all those working at the company
    5. Reasonable prices

  194. My father is a retired military veteran and still works for the government so I have much experience with moving. My parents moved yet again in May of 2019 and we are still trying to settle issues with the company that moved us. Being that this was a PCS move we were expecting everything to go smoothly but boy we’re we wrong. The workers who came and packed our belongings were kind but very careless and lazy. They were late every day and didn’t bother to organize our belongings. We had three days to have all of our stuff packed and out of that house but because of mistakes made by the moving company the process took an extra two days, therefore my parents had to come out of pocket for a hotel. The company was supposed to deliver our things to a storage unit at our new location where it would sit for two months until we got into our new home, but instead they sent it to a completely different location. After an additional two weeks they finally had our things delivered to the correct place but when we began unpacking we noticed that numerous things had been missing and/or damaged. It is now January and we are still waiting for the reimbursements on our lost and broken property. Out of all of our experiences we have had with moving this has definitely been the most stressful yet educational one. With this being said I urge for anyone who is searching for a moving company to look for one that is organized, punctual, and friendly yet professional.

  195. My husband’s parents had a baby grand piano that they needed to move to their new place, and set up a time with a local moving company. The movers came and were extremely polite and professional, and it didn’t take them long at all to get the piano transported. That normally wouldn’t be so memorable, but after they were done my father-in-law asked jokingly what they were doing for the rest of the day. The movers said they had a clear schedule, and he asked if they would be willing to move the rest of their furniture. The movers gave them a stellar price, and a couple hours later a move that would have easily taken several days on their own was close to being done. They could have just as easily said they only move pianos or they only take appointments, but they went above and beyond that day.

  196. While I have never personally used a moving company, the two main things I would look for are quality reviews and a low price. It’s important that nothing is damaged in the moving process and that the task is completed as quickly and efficiently as possible. However, a steep price tag has led to me simply renting a truck and enlisting the help of family whenever I have needed to move.

  197. We moved over 1000 miles and used a moving company for the first time. The truck was 2 weeks late! It was not enjoyable to live without our stuff for over a month total. The cost was comparable to other cross-country movers, and we made our purchase choice based on positive reviews from other customers. We took a gamble utilizing a company that combines your personal items with commercial shipments, and we do not plan to use a similar service for our next move. I will pay more for a service that delivers on time! With that said, our stuff did arrive with no damage. We had a great experience with the local moving company we hired to unload the truck and bought all the guys lunch for their hard work!

  198. I have moved twice in the last year. The first was a daunting 2,000-mile, cross-country trek, while the latter was a mere 60 miles. Both times I utilized a moving truck company without moving services and both were anxiety-riddled messes. Through these experiences I came to realize the importance of spending money on services that will improve quality of life, rather than make things more difficult. Inasmuch, I will be moving, yet again, in approximately eight months. However, this time I intend on researching a moving company that will best fit the needs of my move. I value things such as quality of work and reasonable pricing because as most people can agree, you want to get the most for your dollar. Additionally, the reputation of the company holds tremendous weight in the decision for a moving company—online reviews, personal referrals, and customer testimonies share a great deal about the reputability of a business. Moreover, the friendliness of a company’s employees can give insight into what the company has to offer. Dealing with rude or short-tempered employees, even before utilizing their services, can tarnish the relationship. Overall, pricing, reputation, and customer service are the top three things I will be looking for in a moving company.

  199. They weren’t as experienced as most moving companies, but they really cared and made sure to double check everything with us and constantly ask clarifying questions. When looking for a moving company, I believe having respectful relationships with the movers is crucial. If they understand what you really want and care about the results, it will make the process of moving much more successful.

  200. I would look for a moving company that is reasonably priced, and has transparent pricing, and allows customers to make choices themselves.

  201. I had a bad experience with the company uhaul. I do not have a bank account and was going to purchase a truck for a few hours to move my sister out of her old home. When I got to the counter the rep told me that they do not accept cash. How do you not accept the currency of the country? I understand going cashless is a thing but you can not down right refuse payment via the dollar. USD is backed by the federal government and is accepted at any business in the USA. Well any expect for uhaul that did not get my business that day.

  202. Moving can be very complicated or can be very easy. The things i look for when hiring a moving company is:
    1) workers that are able to move things around. If there are movers that are injured or barely can move furniture or whatever that needs to be moved, it can elongate the time and give others a hard time.
    2) Workers that are willing to move without any complaints.
    3) Workers that are nice.
    4) Workers that do not lack on the job
    5) Workers that come on time
The major thing i look for besides the list is a respectable relationship with the movers. If there is a resepectable relationship and a common goal between the employer and the person hiring the mover, everything can go smoothly without any issue.
I personally have never had a bad experience with any movers yet.

  203. I grew up as a military child; therefore, I was constantly moving and having all of my belongings packed into boxes. Most of the companies that moved us across the country were great. What I found most important was when companies were caring and careful about the items they are packing up and moving out. Many of the companies built custom boxes for unique fragile items; however, some of the companies simply packed the items into normal boxes and we often found ourselves fixing some of our belongings after the move as they had broken in transit. Overall while efficiency and speed is great, care for the items is what I find to be most important when moving.

  204. I have little experience with moving companies as I have never needed to use one and neither has my family because we have lived in the same house for almost my whole life. If I ever required a moving company in the future I would most likely be looking for one that is affordable. What I would also look for in a moving company is quality customer service, the company should have employees who are kind to their customers and provide their customers’ property with care as they are moving it.

  205. What I would look for in a moving company is great customer service and a good price. I know moving from one place to another can be tough, especially on your own, but with the right resources and people to help me with any needs necessary to make sure me moving in is a great experience is something I am willing to take advantage of. I believe moving companies are a really helpful resource for people to have and knowing I can receive that type of help really does help relieve some stress off my shoulders for later in the future when the time for a new place is on it’s way.

  206. I think moving alone was the hardest part about moving for me. You have to set up the movers and the car transportation and figure out once you get to your final destination where everything will go. I am originally from South Florida and I got stationed in Arizona. Biggest move of my life because I never drove cross-country before and by myself. I had to leave everything behind and sell what I did not need and pack all my leftover belonging in my Toyota Corolla and drive. It Took me 4 days to get to Arizona. I think if I had a little help with my moving process, it would of been better. I was thinking to myself that I could just move everything by myself because I wanted to be cheap and save money. Not getting a U-haul or hiring movers or getting car transportation and just flying there instead. It affected me in the long run because when I got to Arizona I had no where to put my things and everything was in a car for about a week until I found a place. I wish I would of planned better and budget everything before my moved but when you are in the military everything is fast and you just go until you get there. My next move is in 2 years and now I have a better idea on how I want to move things when it is time to leave again because I will still be alone when I do this moving process but the first experience help me understand a lot about moving.

  207. Different types of services is required. I think there should be an option where you can hire people to help move your belongings.

  208. When looking for a moving company I would look for a company that that a good driving record. I would want to know how many accidents(if any) they had, speeding tickets, and reviews on how items arrived after a drive to the new location.

  209. I have only ever used movers once but found the process to be very simple and super convenient! I do not remember the company but if I ever move across states again, I will definitely look into hiring movers again.

  210. What I look for in a moving company are positive down to earth individuals who make the transition to a new surrounding a little bit easier.

  211. My parents both work in fields which require a lot of relocating so we are constantly looking for quality, cost-efficient movers. Since we are often new to an area, FindMoversNow makes it easy to see the best movers in town and see real customer reviews. We always feel confident that we are receiving the best service possible when using FindMoversNow.

We make it a priority that the movers we hire are punctual and reliable while being inexpensive. We have had horror stories of movers being careless with our precious family heirlooms. This was because we had no reliable information on the movers before using their service. We know that when using FindMoversNow we are going to be connected to the best people for the job. It a must-use service for anyone who is considering relocating!

  212. When moving, finding the right moving company is key. In my personal experience, recommendations from friends and family always supersede the reputation of the internet. Friends and family are more likely to honestly tell you how well the moving company is in its entirety. Friends and family only remember two things when they get a service: the great and the terrible. That’s why I believe that recommendations from friends and family make a big difference when choosing a moving company, especially for longer journey. The last thing anyone would want is to have strangers from an unknown company move their stuff and end up losing some of it on the way. With friends and family having first-hand experience, they know the truth behind the company and it almost always ends up being a safe bet.

  213. I have had both a positive and negative experience with two different moving companies. The negative experience was with a company that I had hired for an employer of mine. There were 3 men working to move a 2-story, 5 bedroom home, so I knew some time would need to be invested. It took about 3 days for the entire home to be moved, which was completely acceptable. What made the experience so bad was the fact that the workers took an excessive amount of breaks. I know this field is very intense, physical work but these guys took leisure time to the extreme. They also carried on obscene and vulgar personal conversations right in front of the owners and myself. On the other hand, my positive experience was the exact opposite. I was pressed for money and moving on my own. I hired a company to help me for an hour and I really only needed help with the big items. They arrived right on time and totally understood that I could only afford to have their services for an hour. Everything I needed help with was moved to my new home in exactly one hour! They worked so hard and were so professional. I always recommend them now and will definitely hire them again in the future. I don’t expect anything but hard work, respect for my items and professionalism from a moving company and they had exceeded my expectations by far.

  214. For me there are many important factors I take into an account ,when I am looking for a moving company. My top four are: A licensed and insured company, I do not want a non-legit company handling my precious possessions. Number two is up front pricing, you owe more money surprises( no es bueno). Number three , is good reviews from good service and my last top four factor for choosing a moving company is a successful track record.

  215. When I look for moving companies I look for the best “bang for my buck;” I’m a college student I can’t spend an arm and a leg just to move my things. It is important to me that the company has more good reviews than bad, but that is always hard to find since most reviews are going to be left by people that are very upset with their experience. Also, being a young woman, I would preferably have a moving company that has females working with them, just to feel a bit more comfortable.

  216. Relief, peace of mind, and satisfaction are all qualities I look for while making a choice to find a moving company. This is all achieved by professionalism. I believe an easy access website with plenty reviews, friendly staff, outfits, and last but most important a satisfaction guarantee.

  217. When looking for a moving company, I look for a flat-rate mover that provides an agreed-upon quote prior to the move. This eliminates any unexpected or unclear fees. In addition, I look for companies that have positive customer reviews (i.e. on Google Reviews, Yelp, Facebook, etc.). If a company has many positive reviews from previous customers, I feel confident in the company’s ability to handle my move with professionalism.

  218. Moving company need to to be patient and understanding of the costumers they are working for. I know that it can take someone a long time to make up there mind of where they may want something along with being undeceive. However, they need to be patient enough to not get angry at the costumer. I believe should also have a good driving record. This will allow for customers to put their trust in said company and trust that the precious and fragile items that are being transported will not break.

  219. While searching for a moving company, I feel that it is most important to look at the price. When a company is too overpriced it can cause more stress on the moving process. The moving process is already extremely stressful as it is so having a low price is necessary.

  220. I will never hire off craigslist again. I remember I was a new mom and we hired a mover from craigslist. With a new baby we were just trying to find someone reasonable and that could come quick due to most of the mainstream companies being booked solid for two weeks out. They moved us and didnt break anything but they did steal some items from us including for the new baby. Now I only hire professional companies with good reviews and so far I have been pleased with the results. I rely on companies like this to locate reputable movers to protect our family memories.

  221. When looking for a moving company, I like to look at previous customer’s reviews. I do not base my decision on one negative review. I know that when moving, we try to plan as much as possible ahead and sometimes and sometimes at the last minute. The outcome is all that matters. I’d like to hire a moving company that is dedicated to getting results. We all makes mistakes and how a company corrects the mistakes is how I make the decision to hire the company. The outcome is all that matters. Having someone who cares as much about your possessions as you do, is what I look for when looking for a moving company.

  222. Moving is such a stressful and time consuming task. When searching for a moving company I look for the following:
Packages and options with great range in pricing
can they pack and unpack for me
Is there an additional charge based on mileage and stairs
How many people will be on my moving team
are all lost and damaged items covered

  223. My family and I have never personally used a moving company. However, over the years I have some stories, both good and bad, from friends. There are many things that I think are appreciated in a moving company, but there are three that I would consider to be most important. The first is a company with clear rates.
No one likes to be blind-sided by multiple fees or an advertisement that is too good to be true. It is also important to have clean, high quality equipment. The third, and most important attribute, is a company that communicates well with its customers about the process. Moving is stressful and not knowing what time, where, or how you are going to get your stuff from one place to the next does not make the situation any easier. Moving should be a smooth, exciting process, and a company with these characteristics would really make this come true.

  224. Although I have not personally had the opportunity to connect with a moving company, however, some important qualities I would look for in one in the future would be their speed, organization skills, and awareness. The time frame of the move is important to a customer. Nobody wants to be moving for a long period of time. Moving is exhausting in itself, but when it is an all day process, one can become drained easily. Also, during the move it is important the company discloses whether or not they both pack and unpack the furniture, in addition to having their own truck. This can make a big difference when moving because the people moving would have to go through extra steps to be able to help the moving company. As well as the speed of the move, a company’s organization skills is an important aspect to look at. If a company is not well organized then many things can go wrong. The payment methods, whether they can provide a plan or not, is important for the company to keep track of. Furthermore, if the company misplaces items along the move, then it is their responsibility for that lost item. Organization skills would help decrease these chances of losing the customers valuables. Lastly, it is important for the company to be aware of how they are moving. If the company is throwing boxes and not handling them with care, then it reflects onto the company that they do not value the customers’ belongings. Speed, organization, and awareness are all important qualities a moving company should be mindful of.

  225. When looking for a moving company I would look for a transportation device that can move other things. I would also look for things that can pick up heavy things because I may be moving a lot of big items. I also would want to make sure that things will not break as they are transported

  226. I look for price and dependability. I have to be sure I can trust the people I am hiring.

  227. Moving into a new place can be exhausting: physically and emotionally, truly a tiring experience, with the right services provided by a moving company, the family can be eased into the new place. When searching for the right moving company, there are some requirements the customer must consider. The company must be reliable and should be held accountable to a timely manner. Even though packing, transporting or shipping household items from your old home to the new one can demand a great deal of physical labor, one should consider all fees presented and search for any hidden fees. However, it is expected that a moving company will be transparent with their prices and provide the expected services. Also, when moving, privacy plays a huge role and it is expected that a moving company will maintain all privacy terms at all times. Finally, a company that is patient and kind that would all household items with care. A moving company is held to a specific job title, but I am a firm believer that customers are also held to guidelines as well, including being kind, respectful and communicative.

  228. EVERY SUCCESSFUL MOVING COMPANY SHOULD BE INSURED AS WELL AS LICENSED. THEY SHOULD OFFER QUALITY LOCAL/LONG DISTANCE MOVING SERVICES WITH PEOPLE WHOM ARE CERTIFIED IN SPECIAL HANDLING OF TELEVISION MOUNTS, IN ADDITION TO DISASSEMBLNG AND REASSEMBLING ITEMS SUCH AS: BEDROOM SETS, FLAT SCREEN TELEVISION’S, DINING ROOM SETS, AND CUSTOM FURNITURE. AND NOT TO MENTION ALL AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE. THE COMPANY MUST HAVE PROFESSIONAL, HONEST AND PATIENT EMPLOYEES WHO KNOW WHAT THEIR DOING AND LOVE WHAT THEY DO AS WELL. AND DOES NOT HAVE A PROBLEM GOING THE EXTRA MILE TO MAKE A CUSTOMER HAPPY.

  229. Growing up in the military, our family went through multiple moves all across the world. In this process, we have lost a few sentimental and valuable pieces of furniture. When looking for a moving company, I would look for a company that is trustworthy and responsible, so that I will have no doubt that my belongings will end up in the correct place.

  230. Moving can be a difficult situation whether one is excited for their new destination, or if a move is necessary. Most individuals seek aid from a moving company in order to lighten up the load and transition process when under the circumstances of a move. In my experience, my family made a drastic move from Orlando, FL to Manassas, VA my senior year of high school. I became very stressed as to whether I’d make new friends, enjoy the new house we would be living in, and be able to bring all of my cherished items. When looking for a moving company I believe one should prioritize the customer service and how friendly the moving company is. When a moving company who is kind and understanding with their customer will both develop a loyalty within their customer basis and make clients feel more confident and less anxious about the process of moving their entire life. This is exactly what my family did and it made both them and I less worrisome and allowed for the move to be graceful and stress-free. Customer service is key when choosing a moving company because it eases the relocation process and creates a successful relationship and participation between both the company and the client.

  231. When considering what moving company I want to befriend, I first look at the price of working with the company. Does the internet say “$” or “$$”? I like “$”. Then I look at the reviews and if the customers say it is reliable. Additionally, affiliation with the Better Business Bureau is taken into consideration. Professionalism and transparency are also important topics that are given much thought when working with any company. For example, when a quote is given for the transportation of items between point A and point B, and there may be a slight change in direction, a company should not make the price of shipping change drastically. If a slight change in direction would cause a large uptick in costs then the customer should be informed upfront.
Having workers handle my items with respect is nice as well. Treating my items as they would their own is important to me because I know I would never want to damage someone else’s goods. The friendliness of the workers is also a plus because I like to smile at the people helping me. This is to show that I appreciate them, and a smile back is always appreciated as well. I even like to offer snacks or water because my mother always taught me to show gratitude and be thankful for the people handling my stuff. Without them, my tasks would not get complete. I think that people forget that service workers are people too.

  232. I want to see more nationwide moving companies attached to the uhaul brands. Moving companies need more digital advertising. Especially since it’s so cheap. I had my own roadside assistance company and we budgeted $75 a month for advertising. That goes a long way.

  233. One thing that I believe is necessary for a moving company, or any company for that matter, is diversity. I know that if my 80 year old, Spanish-speaking grandmother was moving, she would feel on edge if no one in the company spoke Spanish. Sure everything would go fine in the actual moving process, but when a person is transporting their entire life, it is better for them to feel as calm about the situation as possible. According to the BBC, moving houses is one of the most stressful experiences a person can go through, so I believe it is a moving company’s job is not just to move the personal belongings, but to keep the customer at ease (Hammond). If a person sees someone that looks like them on the moving team, they would probably feel better about them transporting their personal belongings because the workers would know the value of their cultural items. Overall, I believe that diversity is important in every field and the moving industry is no different. Thank you for your time. 234. I think that people forget that service workers are people too.

  235. I have used moving companies before, and what I appreciated most about who I used is the fact that they were respectful of my “stuff” – I didn’t have damaged furniture, thrown around boxes, shoved and crunched transporting, etc. They asked where to leave the items, and I was saved an enormous amount of energy and time, all while knowing that my personal belongings were in good hands.

  236. My dad was a mover for a few years but had to quit due to damaging his back really bad and still has prolonged pain even though that was almost 10 years ago. He has a hard time getting up every morning. I just have to say movers do a lot of damage to their body and deserve to be treated really well. So all I would look for in a moving company is for a place where they treat their employees well and train them to take care of themselves as that is really important.

  237. What I’d look for in a moving company is efficiency in carrying and maintaining large luggage, like furniture. If I were to contact movers it would be primarily for that reason. Most of my family is too injured to be able to carry these heavy and valuable things, and we’d be grateful to have a trustworthy group to help us with our move.

  238. The only constant in my life has been re-location. I’ve moved multiple times with my family, and by now I understand how important it is to have a reliable company to help with an already-stressful process. The thing I always look for is trust. I’ve had moving companies where I had great conversations with the movers and felt encouraged to welcome them in. One time, there was an incident where the movers actually stole items from the home. After that experience, I’ve been a lot more cautious. The most important thing as a company is to ensure that every worker is reliable, trustworthy, and friendly. The last thing I want is to feel awkward in my own home. Sure, the priority is that everything gets packaged and moved to the right place, but the trust factor is also huge. The last moving company my family worked with embodied that. They also took a box of canned food donations, which was a huge plus for me. My one criticism is that the way they packaged the items inside the boxes wasn’t the safest, and we were lucky that we didn’t have any damages.

  239. Between companies I’ve worked with through my employer, or even just at home, there’s a couple things I’ve realized are necessary when hiring a moving company. The first is who they employ, with my employer we use a moving company that either will use all full-time employees, or a mixture of full-timers and people from a local temp agency. When it comes to a commercial move, either method can work from what I’ve seen, but when it comes to more expensive items being moved, trust the full-time employees more due to the fact that they’ve most likely moved things either as expensive or more and there’s less chance of them damaging it whereas some of the temps don’t really put the care in to protect all items from damage. At the same time though, some will put in the effort needed, so it’s really a 50% chance with them. I also believe working to find references on company from previous clients is very important, especially if you have a friend that has used them previously. Arguably this is the most important step to take when researching any moving company because it will tell you all you need to know about whether your property will be safe with them vs the competitors.

  240. When moving my family looks for people that are not just there to move my belongings from one place to the next. We look for people that make this process stress free and as easy as possible. Moving has been the biggest hassle and having a great team of movers would be one less thing to worry about during this time. Being able to get all of our things packed up quickly, moved and unpacked with a team of movers that don’t just care about what they get paid at the end of the day, but care about each customer.

  241. What I look for in a moving company is great customer service. To be able to rely on the people moving and packing my things to know they will treat it just like theirs. Good pricing and the ability to move all things at once with care.

  242. I believe that the best movers are understanding of all that goes into the moving experience. It can be incredibly stressful, especially for a large family, and understanding this will allow the movers to make this aspect of the moving process stress-free. Additionally, speed is an important factor when weighing the pros and cons of movers. The quicker the better, and the less stress involved for the client.

  243. I recently moved from Georiga to New York . I was so scared it would be a horrible experience from all of the negative stories that I have have read about online. There was something in regards to some packing services called a long carry that the foreman told me I needed at the delivery, but they did offer to cover some of the costs for me in order to make me feel satisfied. Learning from this experience I now feel that things that I would be looking for in a future moving company would be one that has good reviews, a company that has been in operation for at least a few years and a company that is a good fit for my individual needs

  244. When considering what moving company is going to be the best fit for you, you must take into consideration your own values. Anyone can pick up boxes and throw them into a truck, but it’s the companies that go above and beyond that stand out. Now some may ask how you go above and beyond when simply moving boxes or furniture. The answer to this is simply treating every moving job as a big time business deal. The mover should always be selfless and maintain focus that the customer comes first. With this overarching idea, the rest falls into place. Such things as treating others property as you would want your own treated, helping whenever necessary, and always being polite and courteous.

  245. I look for safety, low cost, and high quality of service in a moving company.

Your first and foremost task when considering your relocation options is to find out if the companies on your list of potentially suitable moving partners are properly licensed. To ensure the safety of your move, you need to hire fully bonded, certified movers who operate legally and meet all the federal insurance, safety, and financial standards.

Affordable pricing is quite often the decisive factor in the choice of a moving partner – after all, the relocation process is really expensive, so the lower the moving costs, the better, of course. And yet, that’s not all – you need your affordable movers to offer good customer service as well, right? To find the perfect balance between quality and cost, you need to get at least three or four on-site moving estimates and compare the prices and conditions offered by different moving companies.

A trustworthy moving company will encompass all the features you may be looking for in your relocation partner – it will be legitimate and insured, will provide excellent customer service and treat your items with great care and attention, will have clear rates and conditions, will deliver on time and settle problems in a mutually beneficial manner, etc. So, the actual question is how to find a reliable moving company. The easiest way to do so is to verify the company’s credentials and perform an extensive research on its background and reputation:

It is crucial that you hire a moving company which is fully bonded and insured and, therefore, liable for damage. It’s true that no amount of compensation is going to ever give you back a lost or damaged item of high sentimental value, but proper insurance will at least give you some peace of mind – especially if you are relocating very expensive or delicate articles

Convenience comes right after safety, speed, and efficiency in the list of reasons why you should use professional relocation services when moving house. So, when researching your options, you need to be on the lookout for a moving company that will be able to suit all your needs and preferences in regard to the time frame of your move and the particular circumstances of your relocation.

Genuine care about your items and your move is what sets good movers apart. Good movers will take proper care of each and every item they’ve been entrusted with – they will pack your treasured belongings as safely as possible (unless you have done that yourself), label them properly, secure them well in the moving truck, follow your handling requirements, etc. – and will take all the necessary precautions to prevent property damage, both to your old home and to your new residence

Genuine care about your items and your move is what sets good movers apart. Good movers will take proper care of each and every item they’ve been entrusted with – they will pack your treasured belongings as safely as possible

  246. When looking for a moving company I would look for a number of things starting off with how much the cost is. Being a college student and a parent is costly within itself. Trying to get other priority things done but within a budget is a task as well. How time consuming the process is would be another key factor for me. I would also think a piece of mind would go hand in hand with how time consuming the process may be. Stressing that If i’m moving state to state I wouldn’t want to worry about where my belongings are and having that piece of mind for the moving company to say it will be at your new residence on this day at this time would be a relief for me. Just like everything else in the world being able to plan ahead brings more control over ones life and lessens the stress levels. Knowing that employees hired for the job are going to treat your belongings as if its their own is a great deal of relief as well.

  247. A good moving company ideally would hire team members that lift up expectations (pun intended) in terms of friendliness, diligence, and care. The customers should feel transported to paradise (pun intended again!) knowing that their possessions are in good hands.

  248. When moving I look for 4 things in a moving company :
    1. Professionalism
    2. Accountability
    3. Affordability
    4. Stress free

    1. Professionalism
The movers should be friendly but not overly friendly, there should be a professional boundary and comportment all through the moving process

    2. Accountability
Movers and moving company should be accountable for any loss of property. A system put in place to prevent that from happening and in case of where it happens, a system to account for it. Not try to avoid responsibility

    3. Affordability
All moving companies should be budget friendly while still providing top class services

    4.Stress free
One of the goals of using movers is so as to avoid stress, so in the situation where you’re still stressed with moving even after hiring movers, the whole aim is lost and that’s counterproductive. One should have a stress free and efficient moving experience.

  249. Along with the price and quality considerations, I’d find a mover based on where I’m moving. I have friends who had to move several hours away for college, and some companies might charge exorbitant prices for the distance.

  250. In the past few years I have moved twice. I considered using a moving company this last time but found it to not be an option. Some places were way too expensive, or if the price was good the reviews were not. I also noticed a lot of the movers had all these extra fees. When I look for a quote for anything I want the total possible cost up front included in the quote. I also look for good reviews and referrals from people I trust.

  251. I am such an organized person that I prefer uhaul to other moving companies because it is cheap to rent a vehicle that is big enough to hold all of the stuff that you need to move. This way I can make sure all my stuff is being packed how I want and where I want. I know there are places too that you can hire people to come help moving, but I have not needed or desired that.

  252. My family moved four years ago and used Meathead Movers. We were all impressed with this company. They had competitive pricing, fantastic communication, timely, and efficient, and they were careful with valuable and fragile items In seven hours they moved our family of five from a home we had been living in for twelve years. We would use this company again and highly recommend them.

  253. I look for feedback from other customers, reviews, prices and great customer service.

  254. A moving company should do a background check on all employees because they will be handling personal belongs. also being friendly is a must because this is a stressful time for whoever is moving.

  255. When looking for a Great Moving Company I would Love for the company to be in the order of Accountable, Convenience, Reliable Professionalism, and Price worthy.
I would want them value my things as their own.

  256. This incident happened when I was very young and I surprisingly remember it because it was such an experience to go through. We were moving into our first house and my mom bought a U-Haul truck for our things but instead of hiring actual movers, she went the unconventional route and hired these Hispanic man that always stay around our local Home Depot looking for work to make money for themselves. I knew that my mom didn’t trust them fully though because whenever she’d walk out of one of our rooms, she tell me and my sister to watch them. So once they had helped us pack our things into the U-Haul, my mom let them drive it to our new home, my mom was driving in front of them because she had to guide them there and as we were driving, my sister notices that as we turned right, they kept on straight, so then my mom brakes immediately and makes a U-turn in the middle of the road to get back on the main street we were just on, we can see them as we start speeding to catch them and their speed also increases. So at this point were in a high speed chase after these guys and honestly it feels like I’m in an action movie for real. Eventually, they slow down realizing my mom isn’t going to get off their tail and pull into a shopping center. They wind down the U-Haul’s windows and start to explain to my mom that they saw a car that looked like ours and started following it. My mom asked why they started speeding up and they start saying it was a mistake and that they are sorry. My mom tells my sister to take a picture of them and says that she will report them to the police if they try that again. Eventually we make it to our house, they help unload our things and my mom pays them their money. They then try to ask my mom for a ride back to Home Depot and my mom tells them that our car is out of gas from chasing them through the streets and that they should use the money they’ve earned to pay for Metro. What I learned from this experience is that it is best to hire a trusted moving company to avoid situations like this.

  257. I have not had the opportunity to need a moving company because my small town does not offer it. But it would be nice to have a moving company to be offered in my area. I know this will save up time and would be more organized to do a move.

  258. A moving company should do a multitude of things to ensure they are fit for your services. For instance – Having a good customer service, good communication with active services, and a good price most importantly.

  259. What I look for in a moving company, is a team of movers that is friendly and treats our home like their own.

  260. My family has never had a massive hassle while moving. Even moving across state we just managed to fit all my stuff in our honda. If i had to move something like my piano or other heavy furniture i would definitely think about a moving company. I think the biggest deal for me would be cost and how close they were to me. Of course if i saw on google reveiws a 1 star rating I’d go for someone else, but those are the main two things.

  261. I personally haven’t utilized any moving company’s services but if I did, I would look for a company that has good reviews, reputation, and is affordable. A company needs to be trustworthy, especially moving your personal belongings.

  262. I have never personally hired or worked with a moving company but I have moved countless times. If I were to ever need to hire a moving company I would imagine I would hire a moving company I have heard good things about. Either by word of mouth or by reading reviews online. When working with others and taking care of their belongings I would assume you would need to be friendly and trustworthy. Reassuring that my belongings will be taken care of would go a long way with me. As well as actually making sure my belongings are taken care of and packed appropriately. Obviously price is always a concern but if the staff are friendly and reassuring, I may pay a little more to feel at ease with my things being cared for by professionals.

  263. What I look for in a moving company is to have the movers arrive on time and to assist with carrying the boxes to the truck. Additionally, I look for a friendly attitude; it can make moving more enjoyable.

  264. When it comes to picking a moving company, there are a few things that I would look for before hiring a moving company. The first one is insurance; If we are being honest, accidents happen. A good moving company will be insured and willing to replace a damaged or broken item. The second is past experience. Looking at reviews, not just 5 stars, gives you a good idea on how a company treats its clients. I want a company that will treat my items as their own, and are trustworthy and friendly. The last is price. Now, I’m someone willing to pay what a service deserves, so if the previous two qualifications are met as long as the company isn’t quoting out of the ballpark they should be fine. Quality is worth paying for.

  265. I have never used a moving company before, but I know I will in the future. A good moving company should be friendly and provide high quality customer service, and the workers should definitely be able to move items quickly and carefully to ensure that property is not damaged. I also believe that a good moving company should have reasonable prices for their services. One other good quality that a moving company should possess is accountability because an individual that hires the company to help them expects them to show up and complete the job quickly and efficiently.

  266. I think to me the most important aspect of a moving company would be the level and quality of their work. I’m sure moving other people’s stuff every day gets tiring and monotonous, so it might be hard not to get complacent. Moving boxes and furniture isn’t exactly rocket science, but if the people doing it don’t care about their work, it’s probably not going to be the best job. While I know higher quality work usually means a higher price, I would rather pay more for people that won’t scrape up my grandma’s piano or drop the box with Christmas ornaments.

  267. I have never used a moving company before, but I know that I will in the future. A good moving company should provide high quality customer service, and the workers should be able to move items quickly and carefully to ensure that property is not damaged. I also believe that a moving company should provide reasonable prices for their services. One other quality that I believe a moving company should possess is accountability because a individual that hires a moving company expects the workers to show up and do their job efficiently.

  268. I look at the professionalism as well as the costs that applies in a moving company. I have used many moving companies in my lifetime and have had great and not so great experiences.
We have had valuables stolen that were irreplaceable. I think it is important to look at the entire picture of the companies that have quoted the move; it may pay off just to pay a bit more and ensure that valuable household items are well taken care of and in good hands.

  269. Hello!

I have personally helped a number of my friends and family members move over the years, and thus understand how difficult the process of moving can be.

Moving companies help to greatly reduce the stress and many of the difficulties associated with moving. Thus, there are many different factors that combine to form the ideal picture of what a moving company should be. Firstly, moving companies that arrive on time is incredibly important to me. I once helped a friend move, and the moving company they hired showed up over an hour late to begin loading their goods.

When moving, the hope is that all of the items will arrive to the new home in the same condition that they left the old home in. Therefore, a moving company that is careful with a customer’s items is very important. No customer wishes to start their life in their new home with damage to their important items.

Often times moving can be a very long and drawn out process, creating an environment in which tempers can run high. I feel it is important for a moving company to be friendly and courteous to their customers, and work with them as closely as possible for loading and unloading items in the correct locations. Items unloading to the incorrect locations can create a difficult situation for both the customers and the movers.

Ultimately it is important for a moving company to be both reliable, both in their punctuality and transportation of the customer’s items, and friendliness, despite whatever difficult situations may arise when moving.

  270. What is important to me is the handling of the load that’s being moved. Especially since there might be valuables and glass involved, I would want my things to be moved safely without them being broken. Also, I look at the reviews online to see if they are the trustworthy type before entrusting the safety of my things into their hands.

  271. Puzzlers. That is the first thing that I would look for in a moving company. Between odd shaped chairs, fragile dishware, and bathroom necessities, there are a lot of things that need to be finagled into finite spaces. If I could audition a moving company, I would give them a box similar to a moving truck, and then give them random tetris like pieces to fit in and see how well they make use of their space. This is a great indicator of how efficient and experienced they are in their field.

  272. I’ve moved across the country four times in my life, and each time has felt just as stressful as the last. I would say the best experiences is when moving companies are empathetic and patient with the realities of what a moving family is dealing with. This all has to do with customer service and consistency. My most recent experience was moving from Los Angeles, California to Seattle, Washington. Different employees from the same company gave us different prices and information without further explanation. It was extremely stressful and overwhelming. If customer service was better, so many issues could have been avoided.

  273. In the past 10 years I have moved about 15 times. Not exaggerating, haha. I always get movers. Usually ‘Two men and a Truck’ because they are cheap and handle my belongings with care.

  274. When looking for movers, the most important thing for me is whether they have a good reputation as well as their attitude, professionalism, and respectability.

  275. When moving, I look for a company that I can trust to treat my belongings carefully. I expect my boxes and the things inside them to be undamaged. I also want a company that is prompt and efficient when showing up to the moving site, while also not rushing the process. They should be friendly and considerate to myself and my family. Most importantly, they need to communicate clearly about timing and all logistics. I interned last summer with an international moving company that unfortunately was not a very good one, and after a site visit I realized just how important it is to find the right moving company. We inspected glass items and light fixtures that had been broken during shipping because they were poorly packed, and the employee communicated with his client in a crude and inconsiderate way, making jokes about how rich he must be to afford fixtures like those. I know that I want a better moving company than that when I move in the future.

  276. My family and I recently moved to a new state. Our experience with the moving company we hired was unfortunately very frustrating. When packing up our house a few of the workers were just standing around and weren’t helping the two or three that were actually doing their jobs. This was a bit frustrating since we hired them to pack up our house. Once we arrived at our new house, we started unpacking boxes and taking them to the rooms they were labeled to go into. We began opening boxes and realized that most everything was mislabeled and some of our belongings weren’t properly packed. Many of our items were broken leaving us very upset with the moving company we hired. Random things were thrown into boxes and they even used some of our clothes to protect things like lamps and artwork. Definitely not a good experience. Moving is already stressful and I think an experience with a moving company shouldn’t be!

  278. In the summer of 2018, my family moved from Tampa, Florida to North Arlington, New Jersey. My dad had already moved himself to New Jersey ahead of us a few months prior, so it was myself, my mom, and my brother who had to pack up the rest of the house. We didn’t hire a moving company because we thought that we could do it ourselves, didn’t even consider it actually. We had to drive in order to bring the car and our dogs upstate as well, so the best option that was available for us to move was to use a Pod. We tried packing everything into the Pod ourselves, but the Pod was too small and it seemed like there was no way we would be able to fit everything. The experience was very stressful for my mom until she called our family friend, and their family helped us pack. In the end, everything worked out, and we were able to pack up everything that would be transported to our new home, minus some essentials for the next couple days we would still be in Florida. Things were stressful again when my mother couldn’t figure out how to pack the rest of our things in the car and still fit all three of us, plus the dogs, inside. We ended up calling our family friends again and they helped us pack the car as well until it felt comfortable enough for my mom to drive all the way to New Jersey. In the end it worked out, and we’re very happy living here, and all of our stuff arrived in the Pod a few days later. As a family we learned that we’re just not very good at packing without help.

    • Price and accessibility is alway s key when trying to find a moving company. The only experience I’ve had with moving was through the military and that couldn’t have been any better.

  279. When using a moving company, I look for a good priced company. Who also treats my belongings well. I don’t want my things broken if they say fragile. As well as, I would expect my belongings to arrive on time or as promptly as possible.

  280. Moving is a hard emotional time no doubt, but there are many things that a moving company can employ in their business to help relieve the stress not induce it, thus creating strong customer satisfaction. I have only moved once myself but have many family friends who have moved and I went to them to investigate the pros and cons of each of their experience. For many, the initial thought is cost, so knowing that it won’t cost them a fortune when they are already facing other expenses of moving is a great starting place. People want a moving company that bonds with the customer and demonstrates a successful track record. They want to know that the company can work with their individual needs, whether they need a specialized truck to be able to get onto the property, or if extra packing materials are provided by the company. With so many memories tied to the items that families are transporting, anything to ease the anxiety that comes with moving their belongings made a huge difference to the people I talked to. I asked for examples and some of the replies were “they showed up on time and treated every item with care”, and “they actually worked with us to accomplish our needs, not just get the job done”. Overall, a common theme between their responses was the idea of “red flags”. If a company didn’t have good recommendations, reviews, or transparent rates then they considered it a “red flag” and wouldn’t consider the company despite how good the price may have been. I know that when I have to move someday, I will have the resources to make an informed decision as to which movers company to pick.

  281. Moving is a very stressful time for some so what I look for most in a moving company is price is the most important thing, and friendlyness in the employees and customer service agents. When employees have compasion and understanding of the stressful time it make the move a while lot easier. Knowing that I can trust the individuals moving my things gives someone great piece of mind.

  282. Like many others, I look at reviews first. Either on Yelp or Google. Efficiency, punctuality, and carefulness matter to me. Moving is already stressful in itself, so I would hope the company I hire to is quick, on time, and gentle with my belongings. Because these things matter to me, price is not my top concern.

  283. I look for cooperation and compliance when it comes to a moving company. Moving is already a stressful time. The last thing a person wants to worry about is the moving company. A moving company should be willing to comprimise in case of special circumstances. Most importantly, a moving company needs to be reliable and respectful. A client should never worry whether or not the moving company will show up, belingings being stolen or broken. Lastly, a moving company should help keep the client at ease in a stressful and exciting time in their lives.

  284. I never had any experience with mover companies, usually me and my family do it on our own. However, if I were ever to look for help moving I would look for affordable prices and would look at the reviews of each company to read the experiences they had.

  285. What I look for in a moving company is reliability and convenience. As far as reliability goes, I expect movers to be professional and polite as well as I in return. I expect the job to be done in a fairly timely manner, if being paid by the hour.

When it comes to convenience, I expect the appointment process to be organized and timely. Communication is also key to pulling everything together and getting the job done efficiently.

  286. When I was younger, my family moved frequently, all across the world. We went from California to Hawaii, and then from Hawaii to the Philippines. From the Philippines we moved to Canada before finally moving back to California. I was still young for all of those moves, so the only one I can remember clearly was the trip from Western Canada to Southern California. We hired a moving company to help us with getting our things transported to our new house and to move everything in and out. It was a really good experience and they did a wonderful job. When the movers care about their customers, they do a much better job naturally. It was really reassuring to know that the people moving my things were doing so with care and passion. Moving places is often an emotional experience, so for the movers to take care of us and our things helps to ease any extra burden.

  287. For me, when I’m looking for movers, I closely examine the quality of thier services. Their reputation is also important, and a good reputation would definitely make me more interested. Of course, prices matter as well, however, if the movers provide good services and have a good reputation, I am willing to pay.

  288. I recently bought a new bed set and since I had just moved back in with my parents. The movers were really nice in installing everything, I was so excited to try out my new and improved room. They set it up exactly how I wanted it.

  289. I used U-Haul moving company to help me move. Overall, I had a good experience with the moving company, but there were a few mistakes. When I was given the truck, the employee had written down the wrong mileage number, so when I returned the truck, they overcharged me an extra hundred dollars because it showed that I had went over the 300 mileage limit that I said I needed when I purchased the U-Haul. They realized their mistake and corrected it and refunded me my money, but it was frustrating that that even happened. The website also gave me the wrong address to pickup the U-Haul from when I originally purchased the truck and I had to travel 30 minutes to the correct location, after I wasted my gas. Other than that, U-Haul was great and I would recommend them to anyone else who need to move.

  290. I had a good Experience with a moving company, while in between houses, he movers treated our furniture and home as if t was their own! They cared for our furniture, wrapped and strapped everything to make sure it was secure, and to ensure that no damage occurred along the way! I was very impressed with their integrity, If eel most movers have a “not my things, not my problem” mentality. These movers, who were just a small local company, seemed to really care for the safety of our possessions.

  291. What I look for in a moving company is simply reputation. What others have said about the company. The next most important thing would be the people that are actually moving my valuables. If they aren’t clean cut and dressed in professional attire then I won’t feel comfortable with them being around my valuables. Thank you find movers now for your service.

  292. In a moving company being that my father has worked for one for over 13 years I look for commitment, a company that is going to make the proper estimates, a company that has hired the proper team to lift and move furniture without damaging it, a company with a reasonable price for the amount of effort they put in. When it comes to my father he is completely strong and respectful towards his clients and their properties!

  293. When I have looked for a moving company before the most important thing to me is customer service and dedication. When you are making a move you want to be assured that your belongings will be handled safely and that you will be treated with respect. Moving can be a tough time for certain folks depending on why they are moving and being talked to like you matter can really go a long way!

  294. Moving is enough stress already. When looking for a moving company, I look for the one that can take some of the stress off. Reputable movers who work efficiently and treat my stuff as if it was their own. I don’t mind price point as long as they provide a good service and make it as simple as it can be.

  295. As an Asian American, a typical stereotype among us is that we tend to search for the cheapest options in anything that we do. However, I think the search for a moving company should look beyond the cheap prices and look for reliability and reputation. No one wants their belongings damaged on an already stressful moving day. A reliable company will make sure to show up on time and get you where you need to be in a timely fashion, while making sure the customer is satisfied with their work performance. It’s also important to have movers who are happy with their job, so that customers don’t have to deal with the grumpiness on top of their own stress, but instead, kind and gentle movers who can lighten the mood and who care for their belongings, showing that they value their customers and their satisfaction.

  296. The most important think in picking a moving company to me, would be care. Outside of price, I’m paying the company to get my things moved without having to filed a loss or damage claim. I understand that shit happens, but if I wanted my shit to be broken or scratch up, I’d moved it myself.

  297. Personally when i look for important services like moving or car repair, I always resort to reviews. In my opinion with the digital age now in full effect, reviews and ratings are king. Prices do matter, however i would argue a good word of mouth among customers for referrals or good online reviews, are so much stronger in creating long lasting customers, than any advertising or marketing campaign. The reason being customers are evolving and growing with the rise of technology and easier access to the internet. Consumers are now trained to not trust every advertisement they see on tv or social media. Therefore before they buy a product or hire a company for a job, they will validate that business with the opinion of someone that has dealt with the business before. Which brings me to my last point, if a moving company can show honesty, punctuality, fair price, good communication and most importantly very good quality of work. They will not have any problem in earning my business and any other interested customer out there, no matter what the competition may bring.

  298. Personally I need to know whatever moving company I hire is one that I can trust. I tend to get in touch with the smaller brands just because of past experiences I know that sometimes smaller business care more about the quality of work they do with each customer rather than how many customers they can fit in one day. I don’t like to feel like just a number in any business. I tend to look at their ratings and reviews of different online resources and base my decision off of that. Price is important but I think quality in their skill is way more important. If i can see that the company provides honesty, punctuality, care for the customers belongings, no hidden fees and good quality in their work. That is the moving company i will get in touch with.

  299. I’ve had some experience with a moving company, in my past that resulted in a negative experience. Based on hearing others folks bad experiences with relocating cross country, i would be scared to rely on a moving company. I plan on using a moving company my next move locally. I have accumulated a lot of nice things and heavy furniture. What i plan on doing is; packing my whole house up myself and not rely on the moving company to do it. By doing so it would leave my things transported unbroken. I wouldn’t want my stuff being held hostage for any reason.

  300. When it comes to selecting a moving company, one of the most important things that I look for as a customer is experience. That is because it is important to know as a customer that the company you are hiring is confident is taking on the task at hand. Their job is to assure the customer that they are more than capable of handling the task as the consumer probably does not have an idea on how to accomplish the move. Rarely does a person move more than a handful of times in their lives and therefore, they look for a company to advise them on what the requirements are and how they can be met. I think that it speaks to the professionalism of the company if the customer leaves a positive review and can refer the company to family and friends.

  301. For me, the success of a moving company is reliant on accountability and carefulness. Accountability is displayed through the company’s ability to meet deadlines and arrive on time. Usually, people are at an uncomfortable position when having to move from one home to the next. Therefore, a company that eases the process and makes their customers feel reassured and comfortable is best for people. Likewise with carefulness, people hold a lot of trust within these businesses by letting them transport most of their possessions so a company that is mindful of state laws, personal instructions by the customer for specific items, and careful all-around for any item, regardless of material or size, is also best. Several friends of mine work for moving companies and they’d agree that it’s all about making the customer feel comfortable and getting the job done as efficiently and quickly as possible. Although moving is difficult, both for the customer and for those hired to move, it can be made an easy and quick process as long as the company is successful with the two qualities of accountability and carefulness.

  302. I used JP Urban Movers in Brooklyn recently for a NYC to Boston move.
I was very impressed by how efficient and respectful they are. They coordinated with me about how I wanted certain things packed and used paper that I had purchased for wrapping oil paintings. They asked before using the restroom and took minimal breaks.
The only downside was it ended up being about $400 more than budgeted, which is frustrating as it is pretty straightforward.

  303. when I am looking for a moving service pice, and reputation are very important. Whether my load is large or small I want to know that the individuals who are helping me to move will treat my items with the same respect as they would their own, or the items of someone they care about. I also want the price to be reasonable. As a college student I have had to move a great number of times on my own. Whether I packed the items into my small 4 door Sudan or had the extra cash to hire a mover the price has always genrally been a bit steep when it comes to well known moving companies. If great quality and a reasonably priced service was something I felt a company truly valued I would definitely be in support .

  304. When I have used a moving company in the past I looked first for the price but then I asked friends about the company before hiring them. If they gave good feedback then I would call and schedule a time for them to come. The one I chose was excellent in providing great customer service and care with my property. I had small boys at the time and they even included them in helping with their toys to let them feel useful. They were very courteous and most importantly, other than being nice to my boys, was that they were gentle with my family heirlooms.

  305. Having trust in the moving company to transport my cherished possessions and childhood mementos safely is of utmost importance to me.

  306. When a college student finally earns his or her long-awaited degree, one common thought many share is, “What next?” It is not uncommon for many college graduates to begin making major life choices shortly after graduation, such as moving away. As for myself, I am still a Junior, so this decision of where to go is still a little ways off. Despite this, it is still something that comes up in my mind from time to time, so I think it is a good idea to know what I’d like in a moving company.
First, I would like to pick a company that is known for good customer service. If I have any questions about the moving process, I would prefer the employees to be able to answer them effectively and in a way that I can understand.
Second, I would pick a company that is trustworthy. I would look at reviews of a company and do some research beforehand. If reviews are showing me that this place is not so good, I like many would find this to be a red flag and steer clear. Honesty is vital in businesses, and it is especially important in the moving business. Your clients could potentially have possessions that mean the world to them, so ensuring their items can get to their new home safely is crucial.
Third, just having good employees who enjoy what they do is a plus. I believe many would agree that at one point or another they have seen an employee working who is obviously just going through the motions and has no spirit in their job. It’s sad to see and is no good for the individual nor the company.
Lastly, reasonable pricing would be beneficial. When I become a college graduate, I would prefer not to break the bank to move to my new home. That being said, I would gladly pay extra if that meant better service.
That pretty much sums up what I would look for in a moving company. I won’t be graduating for a while, but I know that my eventual move will be a milestone that fills me with nervous but happy excitement!

  308. Moving can be a stressful time in a person’s life. It typically signifies a large change, often due to job or lifestyle requirements. Because of this stress, the best moving companies are not always the ones with the lowest cost (although that can certainly help ease stresses about money), but the ones with the best personality. Hiring a moving company with friendly personalities and caring people creates an environment that eases stress and creates a positive overall experience.

  309. Moving companies have really advanced since I was a kid. I remember the times when calling family member’s felt like the only safe option. Now we have plenty of options and competitive prices. recently I moved and didn’t have a family member in site. I was desperate for an affordable moving company and upon research I didn’t find the best online without ridiculous prices. I drove around and to my surprise I found a mom and pop services that completely shocked me the attention to detail and assurance of quality service blew me away. So remember to support your local companies they often have been in business for years solely because of the great prices and quality service

  310. Moving companies is a big deal. they are the people will take care of ur stuff as u will do or they are careless people and u will end up losing it. sadly i had a very bad experience with moving company so i will tell u what are the issue bothered me hope other companies can pay more attention next time.First of all i wish all of us make sure that the workers in this companies are licensed. Second i wish that between each moving order i leave one day open for the workers to get some rest.because it is not my fault to see the worker in the morning with a grumpy face because of his tiredness which is completely understandable. Third : when ur moving someone stuff if its cheap or not , please please take care of as its ures.it doesn’t matter if u finished it before ur business hours or not. what its really mater is my stuff are fine.Last but not least try to smile, i know that u are tired but this stuff are mine and i need t

    hem.thx a lot
    Sincerely
    Mary

  311. Reviews and price-point are my two top factors when choosing a moving company. No one wants a bad experience moving when there are already other stressors involved. To have movers show up on time and carefully move your valuables is very important. The best advice for a moving company is to set shorter windows of pickup. Having to wait all day for movers to show up is not ideal. If the price is a bit high it can lead to households opting to self move to lower moving costs.

  312. When I look for a moving company, I’m not only looking for prices but I’m also looking for reliability. The moving company I want to help move my stuff has to have a good reputation, with a good reputation on them I’ll know that I’m paying for good service and that’s what everyone wants good service.

  313. My family and I look for friendliness and care in a moving company. When my mother and I moved from southern Maine to Boston back in 2008, the company we chose embodied both of these qualities through and through, and we had the best possible moving experience with them. All of our movers were friendly and warm, and they took care with our belongings throughout the move.

I am still grateful to our movers to this day, for making our transition from Maine to Boston as seamless as possible. Without their kindness, care, and mutual respect, our move would’ve been much more hectic! They made our lives easier during a time of enormous change. And, when I move again in the future, I will be sure to hire a moving company of the same quality.

  314. My family and I look for friendliness and care in a moving company. When my mother and I moved from southern Maine to Boston back in 2008, the company we chose embodied these qualities through and through; our movers were kind and warm, and they took care with our belongings throughout the move.

They made our lives easier during a time of enormous change. And, in the future, when I move again, I will be sure to hire a moving company of the same quality.

  315. It was a long distance that had to be covered by our furniture. I still remember the way our last moving company’s website was organized. They had a feedback section on the bottom right, where people had shared their stories about how that company moved their stuff with care and assured them that if any damage is inflicted on the furniture, they will pay for that. Their website also shared how the movers have rules for their drivers to drive with focus and slowly so that no piece of furniture inside is harmed in any way. They even had their drivers listed for the area, where we wanted our stuff to be moved. What helped us the most was that these drivers were rated by their previous clients, so it made us comfortable while choosing this mover and then choosing the driver according to our own choice was extraordinary experience.

Now, after this whole experience, me and my family are always looking for movers, who don’t just have a website but a well-developed website, which states how the movers are careful while transporting the people’s valuables, what sort of cautionary steps they take to keep our things safe. Also, website should have the feedback from previous clients with their contact information and the special feature of the movers that we booked for our furniture, the driver rating system. So, overall, a website with all of the other information stated on it is what I look for in a moving company now.

  316. My family had one awful moving experience and it was not because of the moving company. Contrary to popular belief, the customer is not always right. I agree, for a business to succeed it must cater to its clients regardless of how annoying the clients can be. A few years ago my family moved to New York and my father decided to be extremely annoying. He would not stop talking to the movers and asked them many personal questions. Although the movers seemed a bit irritated they were extremely respectful towards my father. I have so much gratitude towards the movers for being patient and kind. I would like all businesses including moving companies to know that their patience is valued. Lastly, I would like to advise moving companies to take harsh reviews lightly. I know a few people who leave bad reviews in order to cut a deal with the company to take their comment or review down.

  317. When I am looking for a moving service, I place attention to detail above all else. I like a moving service that is careful, respectful, and treats my items as they would treat their own. If a moving service were to behave in this way, they would get great reviews and have an excellent rating. Reviews and ratings are also important to me. I would look for a moving service that I could trust to behave appropriately with my items. If a company was cautious and attentive, I would quickly tell my friends and family about their excellent service!

  318. Movers should show up on time and be strong enough to do their job well. They should have quality moving trucks to handle large and small jobs. In addition, they need to be careful with certain items which the owner holds in high importance such as musical instruments or family heirlooms. Efficiency is also important, as the task of moving your possessions in tiring enough.

    MOVER HAIKU

    our lives our fragile
they should be handled with care
    be gentle giants

  319. In the chaos of a move, the last thing I want to worry about is the professionalism of a moving company. It’s important that they get to my house on time so I don’t worry about packing up when it gets dark. Additionally, I’d hope that the movers are polite and will handle my property with care. I typically let my movers know when there’s fragile property in a certain box, so they must be willing to pay attention and accommodate. Though boxes could get heavy, I’d get frustrated if anything were to break during the move. One of the main concerns of moving is the cost. The price does not have to be cheap, especially when the movers are professional, but it should be reasonable and competitive among other companies in the surrounding area. Moving companies should pride themselves on reviews since that’s what I look at before I hire someone. Thus, it’s important to be consistently respectful to all clients.

  320. In the chaos of moving, I don’t want to worry about the professionalism of the movers. I’d hope they are polite and careful with my property. I value reviews that previous clients write because it gives me insight to what I should expect from that specific company, so movers must be consistently respectful. Although price is a concern for many, I believe that the price of the move does not have to be the cheapest, especially when the movers are polite and professional, but it should be competitive compared to similar moving companies in my area. In a hectic position, I don’t want to worry about my movers arriving late. I appreciate it when movers come on time; nobody likes waiting. When moving my fragile property, I typically let my movers know when to handle things more carefully, so it’s important to me that they are respectful and will accommodate.

  321. I’ve done my fair share of moving from 6 elementary schools, 2 junior highs, and 3 high school to 4 years active duty Navy and another 2 years as the spouse of an active duty member. If there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s how to pack a box. Moving is a stressful, emotional, and difficult process–but that’s not news to anyone who has ever had to make huge life changes such as this. What I look for in a moving company is a business that demonstrates honesty, transparency, and commitment to providing a stress free experience for every member involved in the move. Thinking back to my childhood and then reflecting on my own challenges as an adult moving with a family, there are always so many transitions that are involved. Packing away your memories, treasures, and comforts is no easy feat. Having a company that understands the frustrations of moving, supports the journey, and works to effectively to communicate with the family involved is a must. I want a company that is flexible and works to meet the individual needs of my family as it pertains to moving. If that can be guaranteed, I’m all in.

  322. I thought about what I would ideally look for in a moving company and summarized the traits into an acrostic poem. Here it is:

    Meticulous
    Organized
    Versed
    Efficacious
    Ready
    Service

  323. Moving should be a special and beneficial moment in life for everybody. In my opinion, price is very important, after that comes the reviews which reveals the quality of the customer service provided by the moving company. Price is very essential when it comes to choosing a moving company. Everybody has different level of income, and there should be a variety of moving companies that can accommodate for a variety of people ranging from low income to highly wealthy. Secondly, when it comes to customer service, every customer should feel, trust, and know that their personal belongings are being handled properly. Though, in my past moving experiences, my parents were the ones in charge of the full moving process, I do recall a wonderful experience with the moving company “Two Men and a Truck”. Just like the title says, there were two men who had a large truck that arrived at our apartment the night we were supposed to move out. In that year, Habitat for Humanity had given us an opportunity to build our house, so my family of 5 were pretty excited to transition from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom house. To make that feeling even better, the two men that came to move the plethora of personal belongings we had, came to our apartment with eagerness and invigoration. We had most of our items in the big truck within an hour, meaning they were pretty fast. In addition to that, we only needed their big truck and half of our SUV to hold all of our furniture and more. Once everything was loaded we drove to our new house, which is 30 minutes away from the apartment. As soon as those two movers set foot on our property, they quickly began unloading and placing our furniture just exactly where my mom wanted them to go. Living with a single-mother of 4 children (including me), the process of transferring heavy furniture upstairs would have been a true burden, luckily the movers were very quick and helpful in doing all the work for us. In the end, we offered them Apple Cider with their job well done. At the time, I was too young to understand the moving process, but one thing I truly remember is that these strong men worked very fast. We moved into our new house in just 45 minutes to an hour or so. This moving experience was a good one, given the fact that those two movers catalyzed our desire to be in the house by working efficiently and speedily. Because of this, one thing I take away from this experience is that when I move out of my parents house after college to attend medical school, I will look for price and the quality of customer service in a moving company!!!

  324. When I am looking for a moving service, they should be patient, kind, and want to work well with what I ask for.

  325. What I am looking for in a moving company is people who care about your stuff like it there own and have a great attitude in every situation, good or bad. People who are willing to help with whatever come there way.

  326. While growing up my parents owned a small local moving company. When they would ask their clients how they found out about their company the majority of time it was from word of mouth. Their repeat customers always told them that it was the affordable price and professionalism that brought them back as repeat customers. It all comes down to treating people well!
